Thanks Dan, I'm transfixed by that jiggingI am certainly glad to have never had to live in an apartment building myself. Hope your malady clears up soon, Jack.

When I was young, I had a pal who lived on the top (13th) floor of a tower block at the top end of Stannington, on the edge of Sheffield. The view was amazing! That said, my daughter lived in a wonderful apartment - 5th floor with a view, and a quiet concrete building!!
And what a drawer!I bought my house in 1979, from my landlady!!!
Lamb Content: A drawer full!!

Handsome Lamb David
Happy Double Lambsfoot Day buddy
I was hoping to find a photo online of my grandparents old community, but didn't come up with anything. Even the flats they ended up in are overshadowed by worse housing schemes, and particularly by the one that remains in Sheffield - It is listed as a unique example of mid 20th century Brutalist architecture - Unique, because everywhere else had the good sense to demolish them! Thanks for the history lesson. Unfortunately so called community housing is rarely successful. They mean well but just have too many draw backs. Hope you start to feel better mate.
Lamb's looking good MichaelDrippin' the morning joe, late post lol. Hope y'all have a fine evening and bright morning.

My Dad paid 500quid cash for our home in 1942 before he went to New Guinea for 3 years fighting the Japanese. His reasoning was pretty sound he said there was every possibility that he would not be coming home and he didn't want to leave mum paying rent with 2 kids and another on the way. The only people who would pay cash for a house now would be drug dealers if they could get around the cash transaction laws.My mum and dad paid £500 for their terraced house, in a nice part of Sheffield, in 1959![]()

Could you take a close-up photo of the tang Bob? It's a nice-looking LambI'm still working on makers name. I need a bigger jewelers loop.View attachment 3188056
Thanks BobI believe part is hiding behind black smudge. The more I look, I doubt there is a name. Either worn or never existed.View attachment 3188058

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing OK. The weather doesn't look a great deal better yet today, but it's not raining for now at least. Matt was saying he's been ill with a cold, and I suspect I may have caught a second one! Feeling better than yesterday though, and I might venture out for some fresh air, blow the germs away!I'm not sure what's happening with the work I was doing, but it's on hold for now. I'm carrying this old Alfred Blackwell today, almost makes me feel young!
Have a great day Guardians

They reckoned it was going to be hotter than Athens here this coming weekend, but the temperature has already been revised to 10 degrees cooler85 yesterday, 65 today. Degrees, that is,
I like the 65.
Prescription and groceries, farm, yard. There's a maple tree I want to keep, somewhere in the last monstrous clump of common buckthorn.

Great-looking Flat-Cap Lamb
Thanks Steve, that's good to hearThank you kindly Jack
Great looking old lamb !
The weather is looking better here today. It's still colder than normal but at least the sun is out![]()
Thanks Steve. It is Bex, hence so dull. The weather is looking better here today. It's still colder than normal but at least the sun is out
Nice old workhorse . Is that Bex or bone ?

Hope everyone is having a good dayAfter I had taken care of some things indoors, I didn't really have time to go to town before I met Matt. I did have time for some slingshot practice though
Hoping to get out with Matt and the kids for a walk at the weekend, and fit in a slingshot session, and a couple of pints
We made plans in the cafe over lunch, Matt had a kofta sandwich, and I had avocado on toast again. I enjoyed the coffee so much, I could have had a third, but that would definitely have been dangerous!
I told Hisham that if he thinks of a name for his coffee-roaster, I'll get him a plaque made!
Just waiting on my delivery, and apart from a little housework, I'll be lollygagging for the rest of the afternoon

Thanks Jack! Yessir, that is a phin. I have three or four I think for when other folks are over. I used an Aeropress for a decade and enjoyed it, but eventually the rubber plunger began to rot. I find the phin makes a nice cup and have been using it for about a decade now. I don't make the traditional Vietnamese coffee with the condensed milk (though I have tried it "just because") as I have always preferred mine black. Thanks Dan, I'm transfixed by that jiggingIt's strange that they largely abandoned high-rising housing here, which was mainly introduced to deal with the housing crisis after WW2, and the growing population, only for loads of huge apartment buildings to be built over the past decade, for the relatively affluent

Lamb's looking good MichaelIs that a phin? I used to use one when travelling sometimes, and by coincidence, I came across a spare one yesterday, which I was thinking of giving to a friend who recently holidayed in Vietnam
