Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

It's early evening here in Yorkshire, I was in the market at 7am, so it's been a long day. Just catching up

I carry a Lambsfoot...

... because it’s faster to cut the kielbasa and open its package with one slice. :D

How ‘bout you?

Great use for a Lambsfoot Greg

Jack Black Jack Black I carry that very same slip daily. It’s wonderful. I’m feeling a little nostalgic looking at that Little Oscar Weiner thingy on the table. The last time I had one(a whistle), it was given to me by Little Oscar, himself.

@WhittlinAway That looks tasty.

Really? Wow! Barrett introduced me to the Wienermobile, I would love to have a go at driving that! :D

Beautiful photo my friend :)

Smashing stag buddy

Thanks, Jack.

She would actually thank me for saving a few dollars... I did it for her :D

I've got my fingers crossed that they were able to undo the damage caused by the BFO.

Clever boy

I use a KSF small buffalo slip with my rosewood. It's a perfect fit!!!

One of my favorite uses for my Lambsfoot knife

LOL! :D Unfortunately not :( That looks great, looking forward to carrying mine :)

A buffalo slip beats a buffalo chip anytime!

True! :D

My rooster likes the ironwood as well.

Wow! So cool

Now, that same aged folks are largely playing video games about great adventures instead of living them.

Another great photo, Dave! :) Is that a watch band?

Hope your test results were ok! I guess we're no longer indestructible like we were in our yute! Don't feel bad, I was at the Neurosurgeon today, and have the nerve test thingy done on Monday. :rolleyes:o_O
Hang in there, Dave.

Great!
I have a 100# Peter Wright (biy, that Wright clan was a busy lot!:D) and a small gas forge. Gotta get busy again!:thumbsup:

Thank you very much, Chin!:)

Love the coloring of your stag. And perfect background.:thumbsup:

It's certainly a hard and dangerous life. My dad did do some underground mining, but most of it was in a large open pit mine in Santa Rita, also known as Chino. My dad was born there when part of it was a mountain...now it's a pit.:(

Nice shot, Preston! They look good in their natural habitat!:D:thumbsup:

Wow, absolutely beautiful, both the trail and you Lamb foto!:thumbsup:
Looks humid there!

Cool! Look forward to your photos of it!!:)

The All Seeing Eye!:thumbsup: gorgeous knife, but makes me feel a little paranoid!:D

Very nice photo!!:thumbsup: love the stripes in your Ironwood!;)

Jack, John (almost sounds like some of the redneck name around here:D) both absolutely beautiful shots!!:thumbsup:

Perfect setting in my opinion!:p:thumbsup:

Nice, Joe!
Look forward to some home grown pics!:thumbsup:

Dandy old fellow there!...and of course one on the injured list!:thumbsup:

Boy, these fellas sure get up in trees a lot! Looks great!;)

Very awsome, Barrett and Jack!

Beautiful photo!:eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:
The colors are really popping!:)

Great photo! Antlers are supposed to be in the wild!

Mmmmm, grilled and a good beer! Great use!:D:thumbsup:

Thank you kindly Dennis :)

I've seen some of the comments about the growing scarcity of ebony wood. At the risk of coming off as uncaring about the conservation of natural resources...

I'll make you a deal Brent, send me a PM and edit out the content of your post, which mentions a non-BF Supporting dealer, and I'll send you a helpful PM by way of reply ;)

I'm in the camp of wanting more ebony too, if it can be obtained. Seems GEC uses the crud out of the stuff, I wonder if that's going to slow down now?

I was looking at some surprisingly dark ebony just today  ;)

Good suggestion. I have some samples of gidgee, both plain and figured (we call it fiddleback here) and the figured gidgee would be a definite contender.

Also a good contender would be verawood, AKA Argentinian Lignum Vitae. It is very similar to true lignum vitae in hardness, toughness, density, and water resistance due to high oil content. And it has very interesting feathering in the grain, much more than is seen in true lignum vitae. General color is similar to true lignum vitae, but with more of a greenish or yellowish cast.

Very interesting

Our last visit to see my folks in NM, I wound up with a pinched nerve. Turns out I have severe arthritis in my neck, and that is closing down on my nerves coming out of the spinal column. Had physical therapy and 3 epidurals in the neck, not much help.

Now that is funny! Thanks for the chuckle!:D:thumbsup:

Very sorry to hear that Dennis, I know how painful a trapped nerve can be. I have had trouble with my neck since I was a kid, and have 2 misaligned neck vertebrae and degenerative arthritis. So far, it's among the least of my worries though. I hope you can get some relief my friend, sounds rotten :(

I can't begin to keep up with this fast paced thread, but I sure enjoy trying... :)
Great knives and great pictures all!!!
A couple of English classics on an old nut cracker from the ever generous Jack.

Great pic pal :)

Thank you both very much!
Hoping to get it resolved without surgery.

Hope so too

Back to stag for Thursday. Just because.

Looking good Vince

Good Grief! We'd be lively bunch at a party!:rolleyes:

:D

Hmmm.... I haven't been to bed at 9:00 since I was 5 years old. Might feel better if I did. ;)

You're a party animal Vince! :D

Maybe I'll start that less beer and more exercise I was making noises about earlier.
You don't want to start that sort of thing too near New Years, or you can't be sure whether you're a serious person or a faddist.

Winter is on the ropes!

LOL! :D Great pic Jer

Good Morning Guardians

Beautiful pictures and knife choices fellas. Hope they serve you well today.

I'm continuing on my full week vacation and I am so ready to get back to work. I need to work to feel productive... retirement is going to be rough unless I start another business or something. Glad I still have 10 years to think about it. Still Totin' my rosewood...

You need more Lambsfoot knives, then your time will be taken up cleaning, oiling, and sharpening them! :D Cool pic John :)

Good morning Guardians. Hope each and everyone of you have a great day...remember Lambsfoot allow you to be healthy, wealthy and wise.;)

Excellent Dwight :)

The rosewood helping out with breakfast this morning... Did a great job chopping potatoes and corned beef :)

That looks great John, you ever try some onions in there? :)

At least they didn't lose it. Or drop it again. ;)

I made sure I left it in a padded wallet, just in case the BFO had cursed me! ;)

Good thing BFO doesn't work there :D

Too right, Wright's would never get a knife out of the door! :D

So safe, nobody could find it.

Well then John, I will repost this one. :D

Sorry to hear that Jack.

We lost power last night around 8:00PM EST from the previous nights sleet/ice/snow event. The family and I woke up to a house around 55°F this morning (Brrrr). It was a rough nights rest with me tossing and turning in anticipation of all the lights coming on and the much desired heat. Now with this news of Jack about to ship out the 2nd batch of Guardians it's going to be more restless nights sleep until I receive that beauty!

I know it has been said many times before but I want to reiterate my deepest thanks Jack for all your hard work and support to this hobby of ours.

Brent

Thanks Brent, sorry to hear about last night, hope you can catch up with your lost sleep tonight - don't worry, your Lambsfoot is safe, and will go in the post early next week (photos shortly)

Thanks pal

Owls good, eagles better!
View attachment 1077715
Didn't eagles save the day in "The Hobbit"?

I wish an eagle had snatched my Lambsfoot from the greasy fingers of the BFO, and safetly returned it to me! ;)

Jack Black Jack Black Sorry you have to wait longer.

Thank you my friend :)

That knife of yours, Dwight, just plain excites me...great photo as usual
Thank you. :)

Another quality pic, Dwight.

The rosewood helping out with breakfast this morning... Did a great job chopping potatoes and corned beef
Thanks John. That looks delicious.

Just on the train coming back from Sheffield now. Unfortunately, while Wright's made the other 20 Guardians knives, they forgot to fix up mine!
That big bumbling butter fingered oaf!!!!!!

Well then John, I will repost this one
Very cool Dave.

Fodderwing Fodderwing A Nice craggy Lambsfoot.
Thank you sir.

Excellent Dwight
gracias.

Apart from learning some sad news - https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...ales-vignettes.754492/page-1138#post-18805147 - I had a good day over in Sheffield today. Picked up the second batch of 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot knives, took John Maleham for lunch, slipped Ashley some beer-money for the weekend, had a good chat with his dad Michael, bumped into Paul Iseard, the supposedly retired (but certainly not retiring) proprietor of The Famous Sheffield Shop, and acquired these recently discovered old hand-forged Lambsfoot knives :) And the weather has been great today too! :)

Sad about not getting my own Guardians Lambsfoot, but glad to have those of you other patient folks here with me :) After dark here, but here they are in my kitchen

Very sorry to hear about the loss of Mick. And what a tragedy about his collection. Glad you had a profitable and enjoyable day Jack. I have one of Mr Maleham's ironwood lambs. Here it is.fullsizeoutput_e2e.jpeg

edit - The new iron lambs look terrific Jack! :)

Weekend beer-money is always appreciated! I'm sure Ashley will spend it wisely.
Those ironwood scales look as good as the first bunch.

Yes indeed Dwight :( Thank you, that looks terrific my friend, though I have to say that despite what you may have read online, John Maleham has never made a knife in his life

I think he'll probably spend it like most young fellers ;) He is off to a motor-cycle rally this weekend, so I'm sure he'll be having a good time :) He told me that he had put in some extra hours in order to take some time off, and ended up working 30 hours in a row!

Thanks guys and Jack I appreciate your instruction on John Maleham. Now I have to go back and figure out why I thought he made this knife. o_O

I suspect it was because there's a website that calls him 'The Finest Cutler in Sheffield', for which the lads in the factory have ragged him at great length ;)

Sounds like you had a full day, Jack! That pile of hand-forged blades is really cool!

I spotted this one on the bench today, Big 'Un in ebony, managed to talk them into letting me have it ;) :)

That's a good looking knife, Jack. I can't wait for the inevitable Ebony-and-Ivory photo with your Yorkshire Rose. :D

Yes Barrett, I had a few finds on Leeds market before I went to Sheffield too ;)

You know me too well my friend! I already took it in anticipation of what I'll be carrying tomorrow! :D :D

Its not your ironwood Jack, but that's a really nice one.:D

That Big 'Un's a Good 'Un!

Thanks guys :)

Sounds like a good day Jack other than yours falling between the cracks. I just received this stag by Mr. Maleham that I got off the exchange.
I've heard some make excuses for a lack of f&f but I have no complaints whatsoever. It's well made and looks good. I have a nice group of some gorgeous stag but this smooth stag is cool too. I'm one happy camper.IMG_7825-01-1024x769.jpeg IMG_7826-1024x767.JPG
