Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

They look like blintzes! Do they have a cheese filling, Jack?

No, they were just fruit I think Rachel, nice, but perhaps a little sweet for my tastes. I'm hoping to hunt down some savoury ones tomorrow, but I'll have to see what I can find :) Last year, I had my plans all set, and then got roped into looking after my mate's kids in the morning. We were supposed to be having pancakes afterwards, but then the youngest decided he didn't want pancakes (Yeah, I know!), so I had to go and find somewhere on my own, about 2.00pm, by which time I was ravenous!

haha yeah, my grandparents were from Scotland being strict Presbyterians, their motto was "TAKE OR LEAVE IT"

Being brought up by people who just went through WW2 wasn't easy, if there was anything left on your plate after dinner, you'd be sure to get it for breakfast! British food was very spartan then, with not a lot available, and little money, but the worst thing was that my mother was an absolutely terrible cook! I mean World Class, if there had been a Bad Cooking Olympics, I think she could have won a gold medal! :D

I might as well join the crowd
Beautifully colorful AC shot!

One of my favourite days of the year tomorrow - Shrove Tuesday - Pancake Day! :) Here's a pic from last year, the 2018 knives still hadn't been ordered, so I was accompanied by the 2017

That 17 is a heart stopper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks my friend :) He wasn't really bow-legged though ;) :D Sounds like you're definitely a cowboy! :D :)
Not really, a title I don't remotely deserve, although I have given shots and used a spey blade a time or two while helping a friend pen up his small herd of 50 -60 head or so. I've even been on a horse  :)
Hope there's nothing wrong with actually being a bow-legged cowboy... I resemble that remark
LOL. When I was a kid I was bow-legged, pigeon toed AND knock-kneed :p Spent a lot of time falling on my knees until I learned how to adjust my gait
Spring is coming...
Yaah, mahn. I'm ready - but being in California the rain and snow this year has sure been a welcomed and blessed relief for our recent drought.
It was getting real serious. Worst I can remember. I feel that another dry year would have put us in super big trouble.

That looks delicious, Jack. My wife's family makes something similar that they call Norwegian pancakes. They are filled with raspberry jam and they are so yummy.

I know what you mean Dave! :D In Sheffield, workers were traditionally paid on Thursdays, and the traditional meal for much of the city on Wednesday was a thin poor man's stew, which Sheffielders call 'Ash'. Not being from a Catholic background, I always thought Ash Wednesday was named after the dish, not least because it always followed Pancake Day! :D
That's a great story right there.

Fellow Californian here... I think the drought is over for sure after this year, the snow pack is going to be ridiculous. Getting tired of all the rain though, let's start Spring.

Lot of boxes ticked there my friend :) A pal of mine has a farm in Scotland, and wanted me to come visit, he asked me, "Can you ride a horse?" I thought it was the daftest question in the world, I told him, "'Course I can't, I'm from Sheffield!" :D

Watching the Sheffield Derby!

Great pic Dave, hope it's a great game :) Up The Owls! ;)

This beer would probably be a good choice - with the way that Derby is viewed in Sheffield! ;) :D

One of my trophy buckles, some of my leather work, and my Lambsfoot...

Now you're talking the real deal John :) Great pic my friend, and that's some awesome leather work, and a fantastic buckle :) I used to exchange emails with Dave @Horsewright (another Lambsfoot-owning Cowboy) pretty regularly, and he explained a lot of real interesting stuff to me about roping and what have you. I sure miss our chats :)

Oh Man! Pancake day, miss that! Make them in the frying pan, nice and thin, then when there done put them on a plate, sprinkle sugar and squirt some lemon juice, then roll them up............Heaven on a dish.

Russell

Mmmmm :) I look forward to Pancake Day so much, I don't know why I don't just make them more often! :D

I've had many interesting conversations with Dave myself. We talk about horses, leather craft, and roping in particular. Our roping styles are quite different though; While my competitions are all about speed, his competitions are all about style and points. I hope to get down his way later this year to check it out.

Fantastic stuff John, Dave is a great guy :)

Grats on the buckle, cowboy. Nice one! Header or heeler?
Ever do the PRCA in Clovis? One time, they had Johnny Paycheck AND Bocephus after the rodeo.
Pretty sure they both were there. I remember Paycheck was for sure. It was a pretty hot day and there was a lot of Lone Star that went over the tongue :D
Ever play cards at the 500 Club?

Happy Monday, Guardians.

I generally step away from screens over weekends and do not post a whole lot. That said, it is difficult to come back and find yourself hundreds of posts behind, yet again. Unfortunately, I have little free time these days and am usually only able to remain abreast of things while I am working (sounds strange, I am sure).

So, please forgive my inability to read through what I am sure is a fantastic string of great posts and pictures. I will make it up to you by keeping caught up during the week, only to repeat this over the weekend and into the next. :D

I took advantage of our fantastic weather and went to the coast where my favorite "Irish" pub is. I had myself a full breakfast and I ate way too much... Accompanied by a few pints of Smithwick's, of course.
