Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'm interested to hear what folks think, because I could always ask Wright's to lighten the pull with large future orders. Personally, I'd be reluctant to do that, as I think if a user finds the pull too stiff for them, the knife can be fine-tuned, and the pull strength reduced. However, the reverse isn't true
I certainly wouldn't lighten the pulls. It just wouldn't be the same knife if it didn't have that trademark 'thwack' when you open it.

Beautiful Ebony Lambs today gentlemen.

I might take my Lambsfoot into work today to show it to one of my coworkers. I've been bragging about it and he's been wanting to see it. He's a modern one-handed knife guy, but I gifted him a Stockman knife earlier this year and he's been coming around slowly but surely. :D

Dwight - It is time to mount up.
Your pancake/stag post pushed me over the edge. My wife was getting ready to go to bed when I said "how do you feel about pancakes right now?" Fifteen miles to the IHOP. Tall stack of buttermilk pecan pancakes and link sausage. :D

Look at what showed up
Beautiful grain and chatoyance on that one Kevin!

Wonderful photo Dwight, a great start to the day (though I woke up 3 hours ago at 4.30am!
Thank you Jack. :)

Thanks again Jack ( Jack Black Jack Black ) for a phenomenal run of lambsfoot knives!

Thank you Joshua :)

Thanks John

Thanks, John! I have to agree with you, "It just wouldn't be the same knife if it didn't have that trademark 'thwack' when you open it".:D

I'm with these guys: please don't lighten the pull!

Yes, don't lighten the pulls.
If we get too feeble to worry them open with pinching and nail-nicking, we can get locking hemostats.

Jack Black Jack Black can run to London for us and get them from an ancient surgical instrument maker! :D

I am of the same opinion gents, I like the pull as is, but also, like spicy food for example, it is a very subjective thing. If I asked Wright's to make the pull less stiff, how would they know where to stop, maybe the pull would end up being too soft. I know that they have struggled with the issue in the past, John Maleham told me that some customers asked for a softer pull, others for a stiffer pull. At the end of the day, they're not a custom knife maker, and it's hard to please everyone, but I think they are at least staying true to tradition, and as I said above, while a stiff pull can always be eased, the same isn't true of a light pull

Wow, more beautiful wood. I don't know where they got the lump of ironwood to make the scales for this batch from, but the sure got a good one.

I've seen a lot of wood during my years as an antiques dealer but these ironwood are as impressive as any.View attachment 1086042

I'll be sure to pass on your comments gents, I know that the Ironwood came from the US, but I don't know anymore than that :)

That is a beautiful photo Alan, and it shows your knife off to perfection :)

I remember you mentioning him before John :) Excellent photo my friend

John, don't let him mishandle it like Jacks ironwood.:p

Yikes! Definitely not, who knows when I'll see that one again, and what it'll look like! o_O Check his hands for butter John, and make him crouch down above a pile of feather pillows! :D

LOL! :D I remeber one Sunday, Barrett @btb01 was having cold pizza, and it gave me a craving I just had to fill! :D Lovely pic of your AC Dwight :)

Nah, he's a knife guy and knows how to handle a knife. But I'll take the rosewood just in case.

LOL! :D

Are you finding them OK now Preston? I have always found the pulls on Buck knives a little light. I thought @r8shell made a good point earlier, relating to there being more to the ease of opening than the pull, I have US-made Spearpoint and Pen blades which I struggle with, yet I don't think the springs are any stronger than on my Wright knives. I also have older Sheffield knives, which open relatively easily, but that is because of wear to the tang and spring after much use

Morning folks, enjoying all your posts :) I haven't carried my 2018 Ebony in a week or so  Making up for that today ;)

Jack, both the Rosewood and Ironwood have broke in to the point that I can open them and not break a nail(which are brittle...being an old fart). I think what Rachel said is very applicable, especially the part about becoming accustom to the individual knife.
That Ebony is so dark and even...one of those is on my list...a long list,so many knives, so little time!
That's a nice photo. Dave, looks like it could be a twin to Jack's

Yours is impressive for sure Alan, love it's diagonal orientation.

It is good to introduce others to the wonders of the Lambsfoot...great lighting on that Rosewood, John, really shows the grain!
Dwight, you've done it again with that photo, great composition, texture, value...all the things that visually stimulate!

The warm-up continues here, first of several that will be above freezing. I'm taking Rosie and run a few errands, get the truck washed and hit a few flea markets.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, Guardians

Could you imagine... Lol
He lets me play with his $600.00 knives and I make him jump over hoops to hold my rosewood. :D

Thank you, and Rosie is looking well loved. What's the story on those faces?

Every time I get back to this thread, I’m 20+ pages behind. Just goes to show how passionate everyone is here. About both the lambsfoot pattern and the community here.

As much as I love my AC and the new ironwood, I keep coming back to this rosewood as an almost-daily carry. So simple and so awesome.

Joe
