Very tasty Mark :)

Thank you Mr. Jack, there will be no problem with the small failure!!!

I think it's very possible that Wright's barely notice the minor flaws on their standard knives. Some of the large Sheffield cutlery firms, (and many smaller ones), had a period of excellence, but for most of them, that was back before the war (in many cases before the FIRST World War). Then, for various reasons, they went into decline, and the quality of their knives suffered. Wright's were only established in 1947, when the great Sheffield cutlery houses were well in decline, and many smaller cutlery firms were closing for good. They never produced fine exhibition pieces, like Joseph Rodgers and George Wostenhom produced in their hey-day, nor did they include fancy knives in their range. They produced simple knives with one or two blades, clasp knives for the British Army, and working knives for farmers, gardeners, and factory workers. At this time, price dictated the market, more than anything else, they were competing with cheap badly-made imports from the Far East, and shell-handled knives produced in Sheffield by Richards. It is a wonder that they were able to survive, when so many firms went under, let alone keep producing honest inexpensive knives for ordinary folks. There was no collectors market back then, and many of the features we look for in a knife would be totally unknown to the vast majority of their customers. So, unlike the great Sheffield cutlery houses, which are now long gone, Wright's are probably producing the finest knives they have ever made NOW, for us lucky folks here, and hopefully the quality of the knives they make for us will continue to get better. That has been a struggle to achieve however, because we are demanding customers, and a very small part of their market. Their standard range are good knives and very good value, but they are made to a price, and that price is pretty low

Good Morning Guardians

Morning John, nice to see you unleashing the wolf my friend ;) :D

Have a good day, Guardians! It may be black Friday, but I can't put away the ironwood just yet:

All new knives deserve a honeymoon Joshua :) Your 2019 is far too beautiful to leave at home :)

Thanks, Jack. I have to take it out once in a while and let it breathe a little. I mostly carry it for decoration or pocket jewelry, just haven't had the nerve to 'use' it yet. It's just so pretty that I still can't stand the thought of marking it up. It's day will come I'm sure. ;)

I know exactly what you mean my friend, I also sometimes like to wait a while, and enjoy the pristine surface of the polished blade. Then the first signs of patina seem all the sweeter :) I was hoping to keep Lucy free from further blemishes, but since I don't know when Wright's will let me have my other '19 back, I gave her some light duties the other day. I can always apply a little Flitz ;)

That's one of those Zippo fire-starter blocks BTW, not a very badly-made cake! :D

Glad it's Friday, Guardians, looking forward to the weekend. So many great looking lamb foot knives and so many wonderful, creative photos. I love this thread. I tried another photo this morning...it didn't come out any better than yesterday's so I'll use this one.
Have a great day and enjoy your weekend.

Very well stated Jack! You, my friend, and because of a lot of feedback and suggestions from our Guardians, are responsible for this increase in quality, if only on the Guardians editions. :) I realize our knives are deservedly at a higher price range. As a benefit to all, hopefully some of the skills acquired and required to make our fine knives will rub off and be passed along on the regular production products. :)

Aw yes! It’s another Ebony Lamb Foot! ;) :D

I'm glad you told me what that was. I was thinking, "What's that Englishman eating now?" :D

I don't know exactly what you're looking for in a picture, but all of 'em keep turning out great.

See... Now you know how I feel about Sköll :D

LOL! :D

Is "Wow" enough?

Thanks Alan, I wish I could take better photos :)

Thank you my friend :) I do think there's been a definite increase in the quality of ALL Wright's knives over the past few years :) Is that a new one Ron (I can't keep up with your collection), it's certainly a beauty?

You're probably a lot more thorough than me Ron! :) This past year, I have been really struggling for time, I have a large pile of knives that need cleaning and fettling, and a few which are still in their boxes
Well I wouldn’t say I’m more thorough, but I have the advantage of RETIREMENT! Jack if you want to send me a box or two of those knives I will be happy to go through them for you! I’ll clean, lube and inspect them. ;) To save on return postage expenses I’ll also cull the knives that won’t be acceptable for you my friend!
