Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Great post (and pic) Ron  I think the gunk is left over from when the blades are hand-ground and polished. Since cleaning it out at the factory would probably add £10 to the price of the knife, I don't personally mind flushing out the joints. I have certainly got used to it, and follow a similar procedure to yourself, though I repeatedly blow out the joint with air after oiling. I doubt I ever spend more than 5 minutes on it I'm afraid  Lovely stag on that one my friend :) I have to say, even if we never got another single knife from Wright's, I'd feel we had got some good ones. I don't think Sheffield has produced knives of this quality for many decades :)
Thanks Jack! :) I agree, I don’t mind the time to flush at all. My time involved may be longer because I usually do it in my recliner while watching TV. I feel like the extra time spent let’s me get to know a new knife better. Plus I can usually examine them closely to admire and possibly even find flaws if present. We have definitely got some good ones my friend! The quality is excellent! :)

I really liked this knife that is still in my pocket today.
It has only a small problem when closed, the end spring gets a bit out!!!

It's a nice one, shame about that slight flaw

Today between visits from an insurance provider & an internet repairman, I got a few snapshots of my new 2019 Lambsfoot……. I'm still in awe..... Everything is mechanically fine..... I flushed out the innards with a light lubricant; touched up the edge and cycled the blade a few times...… It has a stout pull but I am able to cycle it OK even with my gnarled hands..... When I was a young buck torque wrenches weren't real plentiful..... So you described torque or tightness in Ugga-Duggas (grunts as you pulled on the wrench)…… One Ugga Dugga being just over snug and 4 Ugga-Duggas being eyeball popping tight...… So the lug nuts on your Chevrolet were tightened to 2-1/2 to 3 Ugga-Duggas… Anyway, I'd rate the pull on my 2019 Lambsfoot at about 3 to 3-1/2 Ugga-Duggas……… Or, in a more understood metric, about an 8 to 8-1/2 pull..….
Thank you again Jack Black for being the driving force and vision for this offering..... Your efforts will never be forgotten; I am truly appreciative for allView attachment 1087086 View attachment 1087087 View attachment 1087088 you have done...……..

Thank you Brent, for your kind words, and for those excellent photos :)

Interesting Dublin-Baltimore collaboration Taylor :)

"A family photo"……. I'm a knife newbie...… I came upon the BF site about a year ago during a search for something on the internet..….(I bet other old guys like me will remember when you used to use the "Thomas Register" to find things)...…. Anyway, I bought a knife around that time which started me down the proverbial rabbit hole...…… One very pleasant arm of the hobby is the Lambsfoot group & their thread dealing with that specific knife...…… Being an inquisitive cuss I acquired a Lambsfoot knife direct from Sheffield..... Then another...…..Then another..... And another...…… And now the 2019 Lambsfoot….. So I thought I'd post a family photo for Lambsfoot aficionados to enjoy...…... View attachment 1087143

Wow Brent, it looks like you have quickly built up a very nice Lambsfoot family, great pics :) I'm glad you found your way here to us

You're probably a lot more thorough than me Ron! :) This past year, I have been really struggling for time, I have a large pile of knives that need cleaning and fettling, and a few which are still in their boxes

Looking real good Vince  :)

Morning folks, Friday is here again :) It doesn't make a great deal of difference for me personally, but I am pleased for everyone else! :D Hope everyone has had a good week, the weekend is almost upon us :)

Just realised I dropped my quote of your post Dylan :( Hope I didn't lose any others

It is almost Friday, Guardians. Which I will be welcoming with much enthusiasm.

Never seems to fail... Step out to enjoy a cigar and it starts to rain. I think a summer project this year will be building some sort of cover over my back porch.

Sounds like you're looking forward to the weekend my friend, hope your week hasn't been too hard :) Cool pic in spite of the rain Dylan, I think that sitting on a covered porch, or under canvas, staying dry, while it rains, has a pleasure all of its own

Here are the pics of the second 20 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot knives. The Pile side pic may help you to identify your knife, but if you want me to edit the 'Class' (Mark side) pic, you'll need to identify your knife in THAT pic

Is the spring flat (flush) when open?

With a raised spring on closed, as shown in your knife, you can take a small diamond file and file it down to the liners. Then use fine abrasive paper to smooth it and then polish with a leather strop or buffing wheel.

Regards, Will

Many thanks, yes the spring is flat (flush) when open.

It only becomes uneven when closed, so if I thin to hit, it will be uneven when opened!!!
