Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I was up at 5.30am today, so thought I'd have a pick-me-up ;) :thumbsup:

Indeed a great pair, could beat an inside straight with them!:thumbsup:
I continue without separating from my Pere David...;):thumbsup:

Something simply calming about the covers on that one!
I worked for a time in a grocery store that bordered Skid Row. The dumpsters were right behind the store at the end of the shift I would be dumping the garbage from the day. Almost daily there would be a few sitting next to the wall either passed out or awake, but not comprehending. They would puncture a hole in the bottom of a can of Lysol disinfectant spray, and drink the liquid or quite often antifreeze. These folks were usually suffering from Scabies and looked terrible.
I wanted to like your story...just too sad!
Our back alley overhead door would always have drunks and paint huffers all around. Gold paint seemed to be popular. :oops:

In on 800!
My maternal grandmother was very fond of 'Victory V' lozenges (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victory_V), always kind of smelled of them :D :thumbsup:

Victory V is a British brand of liquorice-flavoured lozenges.[1] Originally manufactured in Nelson, Lancashire, they were devised by Thomas Fryer and Edward Smith MD in the mid-19th century and were initially made by hand to ensure that each sweet contained the correct amount of therapeutic ingredients; ether, liquorice and chloroform.

:eek:
Where can I get me some o' them thar lozenges? ;)

Weird...I quoted these earlier, but guess they fell off somewhere, now they have shown back up!:eek::confused:
Maybe the throat lozenges are kicking in!:D

Thank you Dennis. Your Lamb looks great hanging out with his friend. Glad you’re feeling better.
Thank you very much, CD!:)
I have been AWOL the past few days and I'm not going to try to catch up either, Dennis. I don't type that fast and have to stop and proof my typing 'cause of mistakes.

That looks like a good pick-me-up, Jack. I'm assuming it has caffeine and alcohol?:eek:

Hope all you Guardians have a good week.

That is a great photo, Preston!:thumbsup:
Yes, I never cared for Hall's. I think the reason cough lozenges were so popular with old folks when I was a kid, was because, unlike candy, they weren't covered by WW2 rationing :thumbsup:

:D :thumbsup:
Cool background story, makes sense!

A dandy of a lamb of...lion...I uh, NICE!:D:thumbsup:
Happy 800th Guardians!:):thumbsup::cool:

Some beach time, and Lamb, looks great!:):thumbsup:

Here are some "catch-up posts" I selected Sunday, but didn't get around to commenting until now. Needless to say, I'm no longer caught up! :rolleyes:

Thank you my friend :)

Breathtaking, Jack!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Ha! Any amount of lettuce is too much lettuce :)
Absolutely! I always tell them to hold the lettuce. No flavour and it cools the burger down. Now you gotta toast the buns, and add cheese and jalapeños, and you're set, eh? :cool: :thumbsup:
I had a couple of honey maple turkey sandwiches during the weekend just passed, and I agree with some of Vince's suggestions. I toasted the bread and I had colby cheese and jalapeño slices (and dill slices and mustard). But my opinion diverges dramatically from Darren's and Vince's when it comes to lettuce. Probably 3/4 of the thickness of the entire sandwich consisted of Romaine lettuce, and I use ranch dressing instead of mayo.

Dapper, dignified duo, Dwight!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

You know it's going to be a good day if when you go to the post box and you have a package from Leeds. :D:cool::thumbsup: Thank you Jack for my new lambsfoot, folding rule, patch and pin. You are one of the most generous men I have had the privilege to know.

Congrats, Randy! :thumbsup::cool::cool: Well-done, Jack! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I've got wood and horn and stag. No bone, yet. I think a lambsfoot would look good in smooth white bone, but I think that about most patterns.
Fabled Foursome, r8shell! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

...Morning folks, I'm just calling in quickly as I'm about to depart for a trip to York. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Stag for Saturday ;) :thumbsup:

I always thought the best emergency ration was whisky?! :confused: ;) :thumbsup:
Do the tablets contain the same ingredients as the powder to be dissolved in milk?
Your AC is aces, Jack! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Hope everyone has a nice weekend planned. :thumbsup:

Good Lansky Luck, David! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:
Amazing photo of your knife with the buildings in need of maintenance! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Good Morning Jack and fellow Guardians! :D This is my AC posing with a painting of Borthwick Castle Scotland.

Your AC is sooo COOOOL, Dave! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Memorable pic, Alan! :cool::thumbsup::cool: Smoke and mirrors involved? ;)

...
Wow, you Guardians are really posting some amazing pics, well done folks :) As well as my AC, I ended up taking Lucy to York with me, as she had stowed away in my pocket :rolleyes: I think she (or I) may have been cursed by the BFO though! :eek: The rain had just dropped to a drizzle, and the sun was starting to poke through the clouds, when I took this pic in front of the ruins of St Mary's Abbey (goes back to about 1974 ;) ). I was just taking a second pic, when a gust of wind, blew Lucy from her four foot high perch onto the stone flags below! :eek: But Lucy fell like a cat (or bat!), and survived without so much as a blemish! Phew! :thumbsup: Perhaps she's still undead after all! :eek: o_O :D :thumbsup:

Scary story, Jack, but a great pic of Lucky Lucy! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

I’m carrying my rosewood today (again) and actually having a day off and getting to look at all these great images inspired me. Here’s some pics of my “collection”.

W:eek:W, Joe and OG, quality lambsfoot quintets!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I was traveling all last week. The Airbnb place we stayed in had a well stocked kitchen with a terribly dull knife. Fortunately a sharp lambsfoot was packed in my checked luggage. The result, a well-earned patina:

ltzSVpeh.jpg

That's from onions, potatoes, sausage, kale, apples, and a lemon. It'll probably fade after oiling and return to normal routine, but wanted to capture and share it while it lasts.

Speaking of sharp lambs foot knives, it looks like there's been some discussion about sharpening going on while I've been away. Looking forward to catching up on that. :thumbsup:
Phenomenal patina, Greg! :thumbsup::cool::cool: I'm stunned not only by the color, but also by the geometric design of the patina. I can't figure out how you came up with all the angled straight lines and polygonal regions on the blade! :eek::thumbsup::cool:

...
I've been walking 5 miles a day though (Day 54 today), so I'm going to have to find somewhere to go to at some point! :D Going to need a raincoat by the look of it :( ...
Jack, 54 straight days of at least 5 miles per day is quite an impressive "activity record"! :thumbsup::thumbsup: How do you keep track of your miles? I try to get at least 10K steps per day (for me, 5 miles is 9000 steps, 6 miles is about 10800 steps), but I haven't been reaching my goal many days in the past 2 months because of icy, treacherous sidewalks.:(

Thought I would go for a family group shot this morning. View attachment 1088646
Tremendous trio, @WDJ!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

(Had to split my post)

You know, using one of the pins for an eye, those puncture wounds kind of look like E.T.!
Astute and otherworldly observation about Jack's Lucy, Vince! :eek::thumbsup::D

Good to see you here GT :) Did you put off loads of jobs until you 'retired' or something? ;) :D :thumbsup:
...
Thanks for your comments on my post, Jack. :) I'm still unclear on how I've turned into a fair-weather forumite this winter! :eek::confused::(

...
You are our inspiration, GT.
...
Thanks, John. :) (Sounds like a Righteous Brothers song. :p)

Spoken like true Northerner. :thumbsup::p You'd think I'd learn by now, the downside of summer is mosquitos. :thumbsdown::mad:
Maybe winter in Michigan, but not in Texas! Had to spray my yard yesterday for insects after I mowed.
Vince, I'm quite sure Dave and I would object to applying "winter" to whatever weather's going on in your part of Texas for the past few months! ;):D

Good to see your posts, Gary. Your ironwood lamb is spectacular!
Much appreciated, Vince. :)

...
Good effort GT! :D :thumbsup:
...
Great stuff GT, that one deserves some limelight :) :thumbsup:
Thanks for your support, Jack. :)

...
I started sharpening on my grandfather's old carborundum stones. They did the job, but I'd look at them with horror today! :eek: :D :thumbsup:
...
Carborundum is silicone carbide, isn't it? Jack, what leads to the horror? I thought stuff like Norton Crystolon stones had strong and well-respected supporters.

...
5K Qs 5K Qs The magic is your passion and your fine collection. That’a Cool dockside image of your Lamb.
...
I appreciate your kind words, Harvey. :)

...
Thanks GT.

:D You certainly have a way with words my friend. :D

Super fine example of an Iron Lamb! WOWZZA
...
I'm honored by your kindness, Dwight. :)

Yay! I made the cut. :)
"Sköll on the stroll"... I like it!
I will add that we like it when your Ironwood Lamb makes an appearance too.
Thanks, John. :) (I'm not sure making the cut in my abbreviated comments is much to cheer about. Maybe more like being selected by the IRS for a tax audit. :rolleyes:)

Thank you, kind sir. Here's pic of the title page....with a Lambsfoot, of course.

Fine '19, GT! I know what you mean about these not wanting to relinquish any pocket time.
Thanks for the book ID, the great photo, and the compliment. :)

I've taken the unprecedented step of modifying my rotation schedule WITHOUT waiting until I made it through the entire schedule. The modification is that I added my 2019 Guardians lambsfoot into the lambsfoot category as my "Valley Jack" which will follow my Union Jack in the rest of the current schedule.
