Gun Picture Thread

Nice timing. (if younread my post.)
Nice tool, that is the version I was lusting over. Does it have the back of the gun decocker and do you like it?

Thanks. It's the "LEM Light" trigger, so no decocker at all. I'm very used to DA/SA platforms, and the LEM while different (it's technically a SAO) is not a difficult transition.

....They also like sig sauer p22# series and HK polymer handguns prior to the p30, so i have to admit maybe I don't understand or maybe bore axis isn't that noticeable on most modern guns unless one is looking for justifications to further dislike a specific model.

I think there's a lot more to the overall design of a pistol than just bore axis height that determines how "flippy" a pistol might feel - the shape & angle of the grip being a big contributing factor. The overall weight distribution and balance of the pistol affects things as well. As you mentioned, some people complain about the bore axis height of Sigs, but a 1911 has the same bore axis height, and when was the last time you heard anyone complaining about "bore axis" on a 1911?

Caliber of course is also a factor. Unless we're talking about a micro/sub-compact, I don't think there's much reason to find any 9mm pistol to be unmanageably "flippy," assuming the shooter is gripping the gun properly. If we're talking about .45 ACP or 10mm? Then yes, expect more muzzle rise (and use proper technique to mitigate it). Some of the"bore axis" drama is simply the Indian, not the arrow.

Nice photos. The grips on last one look really nice. A question, purely, and not a critique, who do they shoot compared to a metal framed, i don't know, something glock like?

These always looked to me to have rather high bore axis and, presumably, more tendency for the muzzle to lift on recall.

Then again, there plenty gun channels on YT that hate the p320 (prior to the current UD controversy(ies)). One of the complaints I keep hearing is the guns have too high of bore axis. These comments come from commentators in love with high end 1911 and 2011s, as if they are a gift from the holy firearms profit, JMB. They don't seem to realize the bore axis height on these are basically identical to the p320.

The 4506 series of 3rd Gen S&Ws are bricks, very heavy solid steel DA/SA. Yes they have a high bore axis as like an H&K USP Beretta 92 or Sig 220 series. S&Ws 45s are all single stack which gives them a very slim profile, which fit's my hand. All that steel feels very smooth in the way in the way it recoils, cycles and recovers. The substantial mass and length of the slide probably helps impart that stabilizing effect.

Comparing its to any glock like striker fired firearm is doing it a disservice, the DA pull is heavy, but smooth and it breaks cleanly, all subsequent shots are fired in SA mode with a light pull and a clean break, reset is short and positive. Some folks don't like DA/SA, but having grown up with wheel guns I can shoot a DA gun. I also like that I can keep my thumb pressing on the hammer when re-holstering so I don't have to worry about getting glock leg if something were to press on the trigger .

As for bore axis, as stated previously I am a Revolver guy so I don't stress over bore axis, the 4506 and 4516 are 44 and 34oz respectively, all that mass keeps flip down, and both are very soft shooting even with high speed ammo. A simple spring change allows this beefy design to run .45 Super that is smack dab into 10mm territory, and then recoil and flip does start to become an issue, but really only for speed shooting.

Shot defensive carry ammo as my first shots this morning, freehand @10 yards, all .45 acp.

Left target: 9 shots of 230gr +p Ranger T through the Colt Government.

Right target: 11 shots of 230gr+p HST through the Glock 30.

Bottom target: 14 shots of 230gr+p HST through the Glock 21.

The Colt has the best trigger, the G21 recoils like a pussycat, and the G30 is the snappiest gun of them all. Although the Colt is extremely nice, it doesn’t beat the G21 as my king dingaling .45

Which of the 8 out of the Colt is the flyer?
How much longer have you been shootings Glocks than 1911's?
It is about comfort, practice, and finding a load the Colt likes.

I don’t remember to be honest. Been shooting Glocks much longer than 1911s. I do like this 1911 and will continue to shoot it.

Try an arched MSH on the Colt ?

Man, I have to say that changing the mainspring housing out to a Wilson Combat V shaped one, really changes the ergos of this gun. NOW, I have the full back strap secured in my grip. That’s all this gun needed was a larger MSH. It doesn’t change the looks of the gun much, but I really really like this grip now.

Looks great. Looking forward to range report. Let me know when you want to rehome the 21. I will bring a couple 10mm's and see if we can work a trade😁

I won’t ever rehome my G21, but in the chance that I do, you’ll be first on the list. The G21 would be the .45, if I could only have one.
