Harness Jacks - Special Orders

I think it was also Roland. . . . .didn't you get it from me?

(Two old guys trying to remember something they did??):D

I bought it on ebay for a song and 2 hamburgers. I think you were watching it because you contacted me to say that originally it was yours and that the gouge style punch had given Bill Ruple such a hard time to make that he said he would never do it again. You also mentioned that the price i paid was a steal, about 1/2 of the original price. Made me feel pretty good, eh !
I posted here because although not a production HJ, i think it goes back to early on in your HJ passion so is historically significant.

I have greatly enjoyed this Harness Jacks SO thread, and what I have been able to learn. It looks like Santa is bringing me an 85 for Christmas but I told Santa I wanted the pen blade. Nice harness jacks there fellows, and thanks Charlie for all the info!

Ah, thanks for reminding me, Roland! Congrats (again) on a good deal, and a good find!

Be sure to show us your "85" Peter!

GEC did these #85s up right in my humble openion.....

Thanks for the Pic Peter. Those #85s sure look nice in stag.

They look even better with a punch as well!:D

Hope you had a nice Christmas:thumbup:.

I bought the HJ5 in Ebony which as well know is a superb example of top-notch design & workmanship.
I had also bought other recently made HJ's on ebay and finally have located 2 of them which turn out to be Charlie's HJ1 and HJ3. These were made by Queen and also super fine examples of Traditional cutlery.
Here's a group shot of #'s 1, 3 & 5:

HJ 1:

HJ 3. This one has different scales from the one Charlie shows on page 1 but everything else is identical including the "1 of 73" etch so i'm sure it's a Waynorth knife:

Here is a Queen Double End Harness Jack but i don't think this is one of Charlie's SFO's:

Thanks Charlie. These are Great knives.

Those are find looking knives, Roland. We owe Charlie a debt of gratitude for shaking things up in the traditional knife world!

Absolutely, and for all the help he has given to so many of us towards understanding and appreciating Traditional folders.
Thank you Charlie.

You are all welcome! Thanks for sharing the enjoyment.
You guys are egging me on to produce another one!!
I've had my doubts, because doing this is not the most intelligent business venture. Plainly put, there's no money in it.
But money isn't everything; this is all priceless fun!!!

Charlie,

Any thoughts of a barehead HJ? Maybe something similar to this.

Now thats a nice knife Christian ^^, Roland, thank you for your excellent shots of those bloody beautifull knives....how can you stand having so many great knives???
Gary is bang on ... we do owe Charlie a lot... in fact a huge amount.
Im just going to have another look through this Thread....awesome knives

I would not rule out a barehead, Christian! I will do one eventually. I'd say it is about 3rd in line for my next projects, that routinely clang around in my brain!:D

That's a nice HJ in your (Piter's) pic! It looks like a Valley Forge maybe. Can you enlighten me?

I don't know anything about that knife Charlie, but I sent an email to Piter requesting some info. I'll let you know what I find out.

It will be interesting to find out. Here's a barehead (;)) Ebony Valley Forge for comparison. A sweet looking punch, IMO.
Ken Erickson used it as a model for his first Custom HJ.
