Have you lost a knife? Cuz I just lost my first one.

Yup.
I actually had a thread about it too.
Laughlin Nevada walking along the river at night and a few drinks in me.
Got back to the room and reached for it..gone.
Fell out somewhere. Went to look but gone.
It was a $35 S&W. Glad it wasn't my Protech.

I have EDC'd an ordinary SAK Spartan for the past 50 years. It's always been 'handier than a pocket in a shirt' and I don't face having to cry upon losing or breaking one: $30 will replace it and there is always a second one as spare in the glovebox of the car/truck and another in a kitchen drawer at home. It's a tool not a prestige or fashion item! I've lost, broken or 'had stolen' about 1/2 dozen of these over the years. Buy only what you can use and what you can afford to lose.
I can sympathize about losing lavish trinkets because I have a highly-sentimental-valued custom fixed blade knife that I don't ever want to lose but it resides in a button down sheath and has a lanyard to ensure it does not accidentally fall out or disappear.

Heck I've lost multiple knives. Who knows how they get gone? That's why I carry cheap knives...I lose them. Other option I carry are fixed blades I make. Never lost one from a sheath.

Lost a large regular Sebenza about 10-12 years ago..Not fun to dwell on at all.

Well that's nauseating. Sorry to hear it. I lost a SAK when I was like 15 or 16. I was so mad at myself. Pocket clips from there on out. Haven't lost one (knock on wood) since.

First ever. Buck Goliath. Lost when I was a wee lad.

Followed by a BM Afck M2 at 16. Tsek at 17. Pretty much stopped losing them after that. Oh Kershaw Lahar at the car wash at 22.

7 years and I've been good.

I had one of those brown coyote brown skylines - I think it was the first knife I bought.
It went for a swim after I slipped in some jetties. Not necessarily lost but it is gone for good :( lol
It still hurts to this day!

I lost a case medium stockman that I really liked once. Looked all over for months for it. It finally showed up...at TSA...in one of the side pockets of my bag...

Go to a hardware store and buy a large floor magnet. Go back and sweep the areas you think it may have fallen out. You have a good chance of findimg it this way. Good Luck!

Zieg

It was at an extremely populated touristy area near where I live, I'm sure someone found it.

A lot stolen in 1 night (BM42, BM auto cqc7, Emerson cqc11, Boker smatchet...).
Only 1 lost, Spyderco ARK, beautiful knife but too light...

Seems like only yesterday doesn't it. I lost a ZT recently while working on a large communications project. It was a ZT 0620CF in 204P steel. It was around June 30th It was in my pocket until it wasn't. I had been carrying boxes of cable, ladders, blocks, tool bags, and electronics for the bulk of the morning and when we transported everything to the proper location. I felt sick when I reached into my pocket. I literally felt a hot flash of anger come over me as I started back tracing my steps. I'm still pissed off over it. It was a gift from a company that we did some work for, the customers were all super nice to us and made a tough project much more tolerable.

Just lost a few week old small Sebenza Insingo a week and a half ago. Talk about a kick in the teeth.

I've only really lost a couple of cheapo's, one was an old key chain balisong that my dad gave me when I was little ( my grandma has an Identical one around somewhere to give me )
And a 5$ wood scaled flipper .
I've also misplaced my micra for over a month and thought I'd never see it again , it turns out that it found it's way I to a tear in the couch cushion 😁
I also had my ca 1968 western black beauty f48a go missing, my moms husband got back onto drugs and alcohol and had some homeless tweaker staying in the garage with him.
My knife was literally nowhere to be found, then one day after my mom let him back in it randomly showed up on the garage floor ( he was all paranoid that some creatures were after him, so I'm pretty sure he took it for protection )
Then there's the gerber kiowa my brother got me for Christmas in 2014 ( for the 10$ my brother payed for the fore the gift set at Walmart it was a really decent knife ) it wasn't my style being a tanto and kinda tacticool-ish, so I gave it to my dad but he eventually lost it at work. ( no big deal as he found more than a few knives at work, plus all of the perfectly good items with damaged packaging they throw away )

Haven't ever lost a knife but imagined any priced knife would be hard to lose. I hate losing things period.

There have been several SAKs and Opinels that I have stashed about various motorcycles. Over the years, a couple of each has gone missing, including my first SAK, a Wenger. They could still turn up; I have a lot of bikes and a lot of luggage lying around.

A few years ago I lost the Griptilian my wife gave me for Xmas. That night I ordered a replacement. The next day I found the missing knife lying on the pavement next to my bus. The spare became a birthday gift to my Son-in-law.

More recently, my junky stepson stole a couple of my knives to buy drugs: a mini Barrage and a CRKT M21 that I didn't really like very much. I was pretty sure it had to be him. He confirmed it once treatment put him in a confessional mood. Knowing where they went eased my nagging anxiety over the loss. We shal see if he makes good on his promise to replace them. In the meantime, I was interested to learn that Pawn America had given him $80 for the BM.

I lost an early production Strider/Buck 880 folder on a carnival ride. It was the large size with a Tanto blade. Some carnie is probably carrying it now......
Edit: I just remembered. I also lost an early Kershaw Speed Safe Ken Onion knife while working on a Garbage truck.

Yes, I've lost two knives. Both were clipped in my right front pocket. Thankfully they were inexpensive knives.

Sorry for your loss. On the bright(ish) side, sometimes they are found by people who can truly appreciate them.

My wife found a Benchmade 580 Barrage in the street in front of our house a while back. It was a little beat up and had some road rash. I think someone left it on the hood of their car and went for a drive... We tried to find the owner, and waited months for someone to claim it. When no one did I gave it a thorough cleaning and a fluff and buff and put it into my rotation. It will go on to live a full life and may even be cared for better by me than by the original owner. It took a wicked edge once I got the dings out...

Yea, I lost a wayne valachovic folder in forged O1 25 years ago and I still lament it's loss. It traveled with me on a Newfounland caribou hunt and a New Zealand red stag hunt and I lost it sometime thereafter. Sucks loosing one, specially one that can't be replaced
