Think back to the titanium 560. Started out screwed together. People couldn't deal with putting it back together correctly. It then got riveted. Buck was putting them back together in warranty and trying to help on the phone.

I don't like the pinned version but I wanted the Micarta.

Good point and wth they have a warranty . The new steel is nice too

Me too....just to see some pictures of it. Don't have the funds for this one yet. Bad planning with the knife budget. Awesome job though SK

Just ordered! The proto looks awesome and I am excited to get mine!!! Thanks Stephen and everybody for their help in bringing the project to fruition. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Welp, I've handled the first Vantage from Buck! I honestly was shocked at how raw and white they seemed right out of the box, but with some proper seasoning, it's turning out to be a dandy. Here are some photos of the knife right out of the box, and then oiled.20180524_142245-01.jpeg20180524_142320-01.jpeg

It looks great Stephan! It will be the first 'tactical' knife by Buck in my motley assortment. My others are a gifted Gerber, ditto Benchmade, and a couple ZT's which are great, but hardly make a dent in my 100+ piece Buck collection. I am a huge Buck fan!

What type of oil should be used on the scales?*

*I'm much more into motorcycles than knives. Asking an "oil question" on a bike forum generally leads to mayhem and the end of civilization as we know it. If I've made a noob move here and stumbled into a quagmire, please disregard :p

Personally, I wouldn't oil the micarta; it will naturally darken with exposure to air in a short while (oxidizes).

Just to add: oil won't hurt the micarta, but maybe a food safe oil like mineral oil would be best if 'oiling' is desired.

I've been notified too. I'm curious what "shocked at how raw and white they seemed right out of the box" means. Looks pretty much brown to me. We will see shortly!
