Hey ! Frontsite/hideaway ????

It has recently become apparent that some of the collaborates that built HAK's haven't made any in over a year. Don't place any orders

I have not placed an order, but I am concerned that I cannot contact them. Too bad, really wanted a Curvy.

Did your son send the payment more than 45 days ago? Did he use a credit card to make payment? Pay Pal only gives members 45 days from the time of payment to initiate a dispute, but credit card chargebacks can be done up until 180 days.

that sad, i know the lady that runs the place travels alot and when i orderd mine (2 Years ago) it took about a month to get it but it finaly arrived and i love it. i wish your son the best of luck in the resolution of the situation.

I ordered a UHAK , and had to wait 3 months, i send some mails, but never received a reply. After 3 months it suddenly appeared and i am very pleased with it.

Maybe wait some more. I think everything will work out alright.

iTS been a bit over 3 months and NO REPLY of any type & NO KNIFE !

Frontsite was great when I used to order hak a couple of years ago, but now its a VERY BAD BIZ...I did some research on other sites and it looks like frontsite is the one in need of 20 lashes this time...very bad girl.:( :thumbdn:

DO NOT SEND MONEY TO HAK COMPANY !

Evidently, "issues" with HAK run back to Sep 06.

On 7/11/07, the HideAway Forum at Badlands was shutdown. . . .

Do to the lack of contact.
:D

Wish you. . . .and or son luck.

Put the witch in the Hall of Shame. She sure used this forum to start her business.

Last year I ordered some of the sheath/carry accessories from their site, figuring on trying to use them with another small kydex-sheathed knife I carried. They had no problem billing me right away, but the merch was never sent and all attempts at contact were fruitless. It wasn't very much money (lucky for me) and so past a certain point the only thing keeping me on their case was a desire to have the problem set right and for someone at that place to own up to what happened. Eventually, that motivation subsided and I wrote them off for good.

What really gets me is that if they'd said something, anything, to me like "we're buried with orders" or "we don't have the stock" or "we're trying our best" then I could at least have the impression they cared about my business and wanted to let me know they weren't leaving me high and dry. I'll respect you some more if you're straight forward and try to set right what went wrong, even if this action is belated. When you disappear like a ghost and can't even manage a meager apology/explanation then I've really got no use for you. Maybe the HAK folks are shacked up with Bladegoblin. They sure act alike.

Does anyone know who Frontsite is? She was always secretive, which I generally think is fine on the internet, but if she has screwed people over in business, might be best not to leave her the opportunity to do it again under a different screen name.

Part of the perception of difficulty is that you can order a knife, not pay for it, and believe it's in the pipeline.

I had to actually pay for mine in the "available now", and then checkout. The process is not intuitive, i.e. user friendly, which I mentioned in another forum when I purchased it. I may not have described this process accurately, but I do remember going back to check on the progress and discovering it in the "available now" days later. I bought it from that interface, and I promptly received it just days later. I know it was probably mine due to the size.

This does not address other issues, such as knifemakers who haven't received materials to grind in literally years.

There are those associated with HAK are working on this today. The confusing part is the number of posts who say "I bought a knife months ago!" but actually have never paid. I question if the order is recognized in the HAK system - but that's really hard to confirm, too, which makes it difficult to straighten out.

Some report they are recently receiving knives, and an employee is attempting to respond to questions, but my gut feeling is that person is overwhelmed with administrivia right now, and has limits to what they can do.

Most of this is readily available information in other forums where FS has previously communicated. If you have an actual paid for order, and simply are not satisfied waiting, it appears refunds are forthcoming as can be done.

I see lots of parallels compared to ordering a passport right now . . .

According to the thread on that other forum, Frontsight is out of the picture and a person named William has taken over and is apparently making efforts to straighten the mess out.

I've been checking 'Available Now' for my size for months now, have a good chunk of change saved for a Utility model, this popping up...Yike. Hopefully FS will continue to profit from coming up with the design, but a new face behind the business may make things a bit smoother.
