Hey Guys & Gals Dont forget ....

Yeah it was pretty good. But I do think I would wear shoes! :)

I heard of a guy who (to raise interest in poverty) went without shoes for a week. that turned into a month etc. The logic being that much of the world doesn't have 4 pairs of shoes in the closet.

Something as simple as not wearing shoes will REALLY slow you down if you are not used to it. I dont think I could get to the mailbox without something on my feet.

I missed the show even after advertising it on the Randall's Adventure & Training and personal Facebook sites. Will have to catch the re-runs!

I'm just interested to see when Dave will run out of patience and start swinging an axe.

Too bad that I'll have to find an alternative way of watching it.

I though the show was great - they need to make it "good TV" so they foster the dramatic aspects of the show, but there was a lot of good info in the episode. I liked how they actually showed him dressing (a lot got edited out, obviously) a porcupine, too - the show was very real - I felt cold just watching them! :-)

A couple points about Dave & Cody:

1) Dave used to use an Ontario Rat3 in his videos - looks like it may be that in the first episode, the BHK Pathfinder Knife JUST came out (http://www.wildernessoutfittersarchery.com/PathfinderKnife.html), and I'm not sure if it was available when they started shooting. I've also seen him carry a mora on a neck line.

2) Dave sells a lot of the gear he uses in his YT videos through Canteen Shop (www.canteenshop.com), run by his buddy. I've bought stuff from them - good people.

3) Pathfinder still offers classes/ course evaluations, and videos by "Critter" - he's not Dave Canterbury, but he does know his stuff. If Dave trusts him enough to run the show while he's away, he's OK in my book.

4) Cody Lundin has a few videos on YT as well - he's quite a local celebrity in AZ, apparently. His books are very informative and entertaining. Cody is also an adjunct professor at the local college and brings a lot of science to the art of survival and aboriginal living.

Dave's knife in the first episode is the Pathfinder knife from Blind Horse.

There are several close shots of it, especially when he's stripping bark off the tree.

I personally enjoy the two very different approaches to a survival situation. There is a lot to be learned from both styles. I give :thumbup: for Codys shelter. That looked nice and cozy! My kiddos didn't take too kindly to Dave clubbing that porcupine (they're still young), and I was actually surprised the network showed him kill and clean it. Overall, I thought it was pretty good!

I liked it alot.

Dave is a great guy and a true american success story. Started doing what he loves as a hobby and is now at the top of the game. He's a very real guy and hasn't changed a bit from when he was just a guy putting videos on you-tube.

The show was great!!! I love seeing 2 different views of survival together!!!! great show can't wait for next weeks.

Dave was definitely using his Pathfinder knife from Blind Horse Knives.

Cody was crazy wearing only socks walking in the snow, did anyone else notice he was kind of moving in slow motion?

Cody's mitochondria can kick Dave's mitochondrias ass

I just watched this on youtube. Someone put the whole thing up in 5 parts. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Decent TV....

Thanks for the heads up TTD. I don't have cable so I would have definitely missed this had you not posted it.

I look forward to the next one!

The place they did this filming "Nova Scotia" is Just like the Maine coast line and woods!
I Love it!!! I will watch the others in the series.

I just watched it on Youtube (thanks for the heads up eloreno). Great show, although kind of confusing on what the timeline was for the guys once they landed..maybe I'm just used to Survivorman!

A while back I was checking out that knife Dave uses (I think he designed it to) and contemplated buying one...if this show gets popular I think the price will probably skyrocket, and the availability will plummet.

I have one of Cody's survival books, and despite his very unusual writing style there is a TON of useful information in it.

I'll have to look for Dave's YT videos.

I did get the feeling that either one of them would have survived quite well on their own and that they were put together as a team mostly for the drama.

Totally missed the last episode (was working at the time and forgot to set the DVR beforehand :grumpy:). Set the DVR tonight and planning to watch it! Thanks for reminding me, TTD. :p
