Hey Guys & Gals Dont forget ....

FYI if you go to Discovery Channel's website you can have them send you an email reminder for any of there shows. I'd did that weeks ago for this show just so I wouldn't miss it. Of course we also have TTD as our backup reminder :)

I thought yesterday's show was even better then the first one. There was some excellent information in it. They did a great job of toeing the line between exciting (rappelling down the waterfall for instance) while using even the dangerous stuff to teach on how to do it properly. Rather than just showing the host launching themselves into the unknown Cody spent time encouraging Dave to slow down and they checked through all of their safety equipment and then worked through the process of why and how with the audience. As much as I like Les Stroud I'm really digging this show. They are somewhere in between survivorman and man vs wild. Rather than using the camera crew to up the "extreme factor" as other shows do they are using them to their advantage in putting their time into teaching rather than hauling camera gear.

I'm really looking forward to the next show.

Cody and Dave probably can't be more opposite. Now I do like the aspect of them working together, and while I'm waiting to see who'll snap first, it shows that working together helps out a lot.

I think the reason I'm enjoying it is because they've been up front about the reality part and more educational about some of their methods rather than trying to use a shock factor. Looking forward to jungle episode next week.

ditto. in terms of educational factor i like it even more than survivorman since it's faster paced rather than watching les stroud starve and complain...again :o

Oh Les has an undeniable humor factor to him. At least once in every episode he has to grumble that he's not paid enough, that he got himself in way too big mess... And yet then you see the next episode where he is in even worse conditions.
Actually These 2 guys remind me in a way of some combo of Les and Ray Mears

I can't beleave no group has released a proper quality release of that show, i don't have discovery channel and my only way of seeing it is throught the net. I tried 5 min on youtube and the quality was just awefull.. finally ended up at the official web site since they released a full lenght Runtime: 43:57, really good quality, first episode (Shipwrecked). if you guys didnt saw it, and looking for a spot on the web, drop youtube and go to the link above.. its a better one. The ep #2 should appear on it in a few days i guess

You're right Youtube definitely doesn't look good. The content was there though...

I guess I'm just used to it:D

I got to catch the Alpine episode today, really slick how Cody was twisting cordage with one hand. I missed the first episode but am really looking foward to watching more of these.

Another good episode but I'm seeing a trend here for Cody to wear at least sandals. :eek:Should we take up a collection ?

My kids kept saying how stupid Cody was for not wearing shoes. Wife hasnt gotten into the show yet. I'm enjoying it.

Yeah but no shoes !!!

If you or I did that we'd just be weird, but he's a well known teacher and book author. So that makes him excentric! :D

He lives in Arizona, so I can see where shoes could be no big deal for him (in the episode he says he hasn't worn any shoes for 20 years). But walking on the glacier with just socks on his feet is borderline nuts!

Well even being excentric has a limit. An excentric artist here got a "cut here line and scissors" tattoo on his neck. Now he too is living in the woods. And it's by choice. I guess it beats the hell out of having to run from crazy nazis that take it literally:rolleyes:
