hollywood knives

In "Sniper," Zane's character stabs an enemy soldier through the top of the foot with a generic, large, throwing knife. (You can find them at most Army & Navy Surplus stores for a few bucks).

In "Wild Hogs," Travolta's character uses a recent-model Gerber multi-tool to cut the fuel lines of all the motorcycles belonging to the Biker Gang, before he steals back the bike belonging to William H. Macy's character.

Surprised nobody mentioned:

"Sniper" - green EK SF 3. Carried by the Marine spotter that's killed early in the movie. Beckett uses it to cut off the guy's dog tag

Proof of Life: Leatherman LST

And from what I read in the past, OJ allegedly used a Swiss Army knife, the saw piece.

Has this one already been covered?
Aliens, the "synthetic" uses a Gerber Mark II to play his game at the breakfast table.
Tommy Lee Jones uses the same knife in Under Siege at the end of the movie against Steven Seagal

Jones used a Butcher knife. Seagal was the one with the Mark II.

You mean O.J. Simpson??

How's that part of a movie??

We've all seen the traditional switchblade knife. Many experts claimed O.J. used an inexpensive, large, lock-back version of that knife. (Think along the lines of a 6" ColdSteel, zytel handled, Ti-Lite. But a lock-back with a traditional wood & brass handle).

Robert Duval used a slipjoint ( ) in a scene or two in Lonesome Dove and in Broken Trail. I don't know what kind it was.

I just watched The Condemned this weekend. I thing I saw either a Buck Special or General. Anyone else seen that show? A few other knives I couldn't identify...

OJ is an actor. And that whole trial was quite a show. . .

Did anybody watch "My Name is Earl" last week? Randy (the fat guy) used a nice looking knife.. almost looked like a Chris Reeve Mnandi.

The guy who plays Randy (Ethan Suplee) collects knives and watches. There was an interview with him in the December 2006 issue of Bizarre magazine. Maybe he visits this forum?

The HBO show "the wire", season 2 episode 2 has a russian mafia type "using" a spyderco that I didn't get a good look at. Anyone know what model?

In the movie "Sudden Death," Jean-Claude Van Damme's character uses a short-bladed, stainless steel handled Spyderco folder to cut the wire on a bomb in a close-up shot.

Considering when the movie came out, he's most likely using a Spyderco Standard, rather than a stainless steel handled Delica.

How about in the western movie Magnificent Seven where a knife is used during a duel with a guy using a gun. That was a great scene.

The O.J. model was the the large display version of the Stag handled Kissing Crane stiletto. Later some speculated that maybe he used a large locking Swiss Army, He was on the board of directors of Vitorinox or something similar, and had a decent collection of them.

On the Crocodile Dundee knife- the the original was designed by John Bowring, a prop man/gun wrangler on the films,. It was based on a Puma export style bowie, which in turn, is based on a Remington pattern. The Linder knife is a decent copy.

The Spyderco in Heat looks to be a Mariner.

The Spyderco in Needful Things is a Police model, in the book the character uses a Swiss.

The Sniper movie used a lot of Al Mar stuff. I remember an SF-10 and either a Smatchet or Pathfinder.

Cyborg also had lots of old Al Mar stuff.
