Thanks man. I've always wanted my own cabin. Another nice feature, is that it's only a 3 hour drive from us. Easily go the on a Friday night, and come back Sunday evening.

That is awesome man, I hope it works out.. everyone needs a place to bail out at and having a spot of your own makes it that much more special.

Thanks man. I hear ya. Can't wait, and crossing my fingers.

Sounds like the perfect place for a Midwest beckerhead gathering too! :-P

Yeah, as long as everyone doesn't mind standing on each other's shoulders, haha. No room for that at all. It's a small cabin on a hillside.

Both. We wanted to go unsupported for two weeks and these will let us do that easily. Working on a couple of biggies that I hope pan out. Her boat is a kevlar Valley Aquanaut and mine is a slightly higher volume Argonaut. Those limeys can make a kayak, they are tanks.
Those boats are frickin gorgeous Trade! Good pick ups and I can't wait for the pictures that are about to get posted from you.

Oh, and good luck in Chicago, that place ain't for the faint of heart!

Hell yes man, I don't blame you. Not sure if you saw my earlier post, but I may be purchasing a small cabin in the hills of Missouri. Found a hell of a good deal. 2.63 acres, with a primitive cabin, i.e., no electric, or water. 2.63 acres don't really mean anything though, since it's on a hillside, haha. I go talk to my old boss on Monday about getting my old job back too. Don't want to work there, but some money is much better than no money.

area (sq feet and acres) is measured in the horizontal plane. 2.63 acres is 2.63 acres, flat or on a hill. an old surveyor "joke" is on a hill is more area along the slope.

Doc

I know. But not much fun playing on a steep hillside no matter how much land is there, haha. The guy that owns it had a dozer take a bit off the hillside, to put a cabin on.

Summer just started last week and my kids are already wearing me out!!!

Going to the beach tomorrow.

Still need to figure out what we are doing next Friday for 4th of July.

Need to get back to the woods again soon too. Maybe ill try and work in some woods time next weekend depending on what we do that Friday night.

Thats my goal WW, I'm trying to talk my mom and sister into goin up to the family cabin so I can have a little fun in the woods

Yeah... My family has a place in NC.... We had to notch a flat spot to build house.

Gonna be interesting Sunday, to actually see it. It's sort of close to a road, well, road, if ya wanna call it that, haha. So it seems that the property goes from the road, up to the cabin area, then on up. Can always build rooms on the side of the hill, if I needed to. I have an old 14ft camper too. I was talking to the realtor today, asking him if he thought there was room for it, and he said no. Thought it would be nice to put my camper there for company, since the cabin is small.

Looking forward to the military show tomorrow. Although after seeing Trade's new kayak I really wish I was going paddling again. Just got over the sky opening up on us here in southern IN. One second sunny skies and playing with the boy and shooting water guns at the dog and the next it's like mother nature started her mensees.

I saw that rain down there on the radar as well as a bit near the land of Hunt. It looked like a tiny yet mean little red blip. I'll be headed South back to the mother land soon. I'm real excited for the show.

Dubz - The cabin sounds a bit promising. Looking forward to see how it goes.

Trade - I see the Barlow Navy grows.

Dropped some coin on momma yesterday.

Going to Chicago tomorrow to pick up my boat. Dropped some coin on my ass too....:D

Thanks Dubz. We took the plunge and got a couple of serious expedition boats. What the hell, you can't take it with you. :D
Sweet boats, trade. I have a Current Designs Gulfstream that is a really similar English Channel design, a la Derek Hutchins. Drop down skeg and the triple bulkhead....if it's anything like mine, you're totally going to love it. Fast as hell, too. You should easily be able to go for a couple weeks with those. Plan a trip on the MITA (Maine Island Trail Assoc.) when you head in this direction....

Best part about it Warrior, is that it is yours. You own it... you can see fit to do whatever you want to with it. 2.63 acres ain't small. Spend a bit of time clearing / digging/ moving dirt and you can make it yours.

A buddy of mine got a small place up north and started working on it 5 years ago. He now has a fully "off grid" cabin. Solar and windmill for electric, he drilled a well for water, and every year he gets a natural company to fill up his 2000 gallon tank. He said the only hard part was footing the bill for everything up front, but now he has no bills to run the place.

Dubz, always wanted a secluded no frills cabin, hope it works out for you.

Trade, that looks like a serious kayak, looks fast. Be interested in hearing about its maiden voyage.

Jerry D. Got any plans for the 4th. I see the indians are playing the Louisville bats that night.
