I did get a chance to work on some scales for my 15 some more. These are the scales I was trying to give away about a week back. since no one spoke up I figured I would play around and try to shape them. I like them a bit more now. They still need to be sanded down a little more and have some of the marks from my dremmel soothes out but I'm happy with the progress. I like the look of the white on the black.

Thanks, I might try dying some extra scraps to see if I can get any cool colors, I originally wanted white for my 16 but after I put them on it......not so much. A nice green might be a different story though. The material is really easy to work with also so making a new set for the 16 wouldn't be bad.
 
Ordered a few gobspark firesteels the other day and they shipped today. Never had a firesteel before, so I'll have to play with em a bit.

Can anyone suggest some decent water bottles to bring with me to work. Some thing that cleans easy. I'll be using them for water and drinks like crystal light. I'm open to stainless or plastic as long as they don't effect taste.

something with a wide mouth. I love my glow in the dark nalgene, but I'm easily entertained by silly things.

just dont like eating most fish, especially trout LOL, Im more a catch & release angler unless someone else wants em. I prefer red meat

can't say the trout were awesome to eat. worth trying though. i mean, choice type fish, 14 inches? had to.

that lure interesting. have to try it out.

local store guy suggested an "octopus" setup. big hook, plastic worm slid on the middle. similar to that beetle thing.

the one i used is a rapala "broke back" jointed floating thingy. damn if those trout didn't strike it like it was crack or something.

will have to try it over by lilly pads later (and pray to not lose it)...

BeckerHead water bottle, I got a Stanley stainless bottle from Tradewater in a contest, Nalgenes are also good, and some off brand plastic water bottle that isn't to bad. Also, the Outdoor brand from walmart makes a nice little 16oz hour glass shaped bottle that ain't to bad.
 
i got a couple of those vacuum stainless canteens from county country com com and they are ... interesting. "freeze proof".

i'm thinking "good for booze" :) or something. we'll see. they were cheap.

i have a stainless vacuum "coffee" thermos like thing, that will keep coffee hott a whole weekend++, 3 days is the record... quite good. 20+ years old. insulating helps too...

i don't like Kleen Kanteen on principle that the threads/etc are not Nalgene compatible.

that said, i snagged, at full cost :( some of the Guyot bottles, and could not be happier. these are lifetime products with massive aftermarket support in lids and filters, and stuff.

Ethan's bottles are very nice too. i can buy aftermarket tops for those too, with easy on/off sippies, and even replace gaskets, when i need. not bad.
 
8 posts left till my 1k, what do you guys think about a snarky contest? Or maybe another sigline type contest.... Maybe a combination of several different types of contests I've seen/participated it... What do you guys/gals think? Your the ones that will (hopefully) be playing. No, not a random drawing....

Almost finnished the micarta for my 16...Dont expect something fancy since its just regular micarta and will turn out looking like the ones Ka-bar sell. Also, you dont have to make those dumb ass hex holes for the screws, I reused the original hardware and with the right sized drill bit you can just wack the nuts in and they will stay in place.
 
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be checking them out and ordering something. I actually have a Beckerhead bottle that I like and have used the last few days, but would to get a few more good bottles to use. I have a couple stainless outdoor products bottles from wmart that make water taste different and also kinda smell. I've soaked them with a little bleach and water and scrubbed them out but it didn't seem to help, so I'll replace them with something better.
 
Dave Canterbury's web store thingy sells a bottle setup that holds 32 oz, and has a stainless steel cup similar to but larger than the GSI cup with it. Bottle is stainless as well. Seemed to be of decent quality.
 
Anyone going to jump on the Facebook IPO? $38 a share and trading starts Friday. Seems like a good deal since I can't forsee Facebook going under anytime soon. I wish I had the cash but I may jump on a couple shares if I can.
 
Speaking of Facebook, anyone have facebook? Mine is becoming boring as hell since and I'm actually spending more time here than on FB.
