Trouts is for catchin nots for eating. Bleh. LOL

I do like catchin em on ultralight gear, I live near a couple great trout rivers, the White River, the Spring river....both are good for trouts

mmm, fly fishing. not for me. this was just casting and spoonbilling.

they were big, and in a few months, they would be dead, so... pan.

hopefully, other tasty fish soon.

Cold stream trout are lean, and rarely big and fatty. When I would catch naturals, they would be grilled in foil with butter and lemon zest. Its to die for I swear it.
^this, except I use a couple of thin lemon wedges in them with a tiny hint of butter in the fillets, effing fantastic and the foil makes it great camp food; bury it in coals with a few foiled potatoes, etc. heck of a meal, and the skin sticks to the foil making it a non-issue.

It's warm outside. Everybody I know has Spring fever and wants to go out and do stuff. I just spent three days out in the mountains. Maybe everyone else is busy as well.

Which reminds me that I've got some camping pics to post. Maybe tomorrow.

I'm dying to take a long weekend and get out in the woods for a while. Too busy at work to take time off though. Hopefully I can escape on Memorial day weekend...

Trust me, it's worth it. I completely recharged my batteries this weekend. Now I can face the work week tomorrow with a smile on my face. I just wish the company didn't have a stupid camera crew filming all day tomorrow for our hundred-years-in-business promotion. I have to wear business casual, dammit! I hate that crap.

I just dont like eating most fish, especially trout LOL, Im more a catch & release angler unless someone else wants em. I prefer red meat

smoked some trout last week - first time I'd ever had it.
not bad.
made enchiladas out of the leftovers.
again, not bad.

and now for some snark:
whenever things are darkest and I'm really feeling down
I tell myself: cheer up! things could be worse!"

and sure enough, pretty soon they are.

well, there was your problem -- trout takes a heavy draw to smoke properly, otherwise it's just kind of smudgy.

Made a few strops.

Just got back from spending a few days at my folks house. I was helping my dad do some repairs to the house they are looking to sell. Man am I beat. He definitely took advantage of "free labor" as he calls it.

Man I just went on a sweet hike along the MN river, and stumbled across a tent. It was empty and clean, and hidden really well. It was kinda strange, and after our camp fire we had to walk past it in the dark and it was kinda creepy

Those look great. The ones I ordered from you are going to guys that can't figure out how I get my knives so sharp. It won't be long until it all makes sense!
