Nice knives, ReaTe. Unfortunately, it seems that even an original design isn't good enough for some people here. I don't see any "obvious" similarities between the 560 and the Horizon, but there will be people that will grasp at straws. Keep up the good work, hope to see more models in the future.

Completely agree with this

I bet the majority of the straw grasping nitpicking scorning comments are from US citizens, who would react totally different if this was US made by US company. It's almost like Americans scorning at Japanese cars in the seventies.

Yes they seem expensive. But with nobody having any experience, nobody can know. And especially if you're the person who bought 500 USD production Striders with lock-rock, 525 USD Wilson Combat Eagles, 500/600 USD production ZT0600's on the secondary market and 800 USD production Hinderers on the secondary market, I don't think it's fair to scorn about the price of this new one you've never handled.

I'm not condemning anyone. It is just a generic flipper from China that if it has a problem has to be sent to China and is too expensive for what it is. These start up companies come and go and with it peoples dollars. I would rather send my knife to Colorado or Oregon or somewhere closer than across the world knowing I will be taken care of if a problem should occur.

Yes, I would rather send my knife around the corner in Europe and not pay twice(!?) as much for them in the first place or deal with backward medieval webshops who don't even want to ship international (a service that is older than the United States itself). Not a reason to scorn at the knife or brand itself.

Outstanding questions:

IS it custom, or not?
Is the $350 for the M390 version, or for the S35VN version?
Does it have a warranty?
How does the F&F compare to other knives?

Those 4 questions (and answers) will decide if this is a good value or over priced.

I understand. But if you want to do international/online business, you will have to hire an English speaker asap, or improve yours yourself quickly.

By the way, although I like your design and M390 is my favorite folder steel, I will not be able to enjoy it, because unfortunately I carry strictly tip-down. Or will you be able to deliver it with two extra holes for a tip-down carry pocket-clip?

Kind regards from Amsterdam

Right. Just looking for a reason. Its best to not beat adound the bush and be up front. Just say "I wont buy it because it is made in China and I am pro American no matter what the quality is or anything else." If this maker paid for express shipping to China for warranty they still wouldnt be satisfied and find something else to nitpick.

A Chinese maker willing to play by the rules and produce his own designs. Discouraging this guy to start and grow an honest business (from the reception hes getting here) in a way suggests to the rest of them that the lucrative counterfeit market that many Americans actually do buy is still the way to go.

I feel your pain. Here in Germany I pay pretty much MSRP for any knife. Luckily I' ve never had to send a knife in for warranty but if I do, I really don' t care if I have to send it to the USA or China:D

On the Horizon: Looking at it again, I' m not a big fan of the way the logo is done. The Reate-text on the blade doesn' t seem to fit, maybe it' s the font.

Yeah I think they need a better logo. Looks like a nice knife. I'm interested to see how it works out.

Great job keeping up with us.
I understand the language barrier. But if you keep posting the same paragraph for every question lol, it wont help us very much.
Do you have an online translator or something?
What is the EMS price. Not clear if that is a discount for Emergency folks. Still sipping coffee here. I think your knife would look amazing with a full flat and no recurve.

I think EMS is shipping. I wonder if they do their own heat treat on the blades or are they sent somewhere.

Oh if I had read the post it looks like they do their own.

So:

1. No. Production.
2. M390. $240 for the S35VN version.
3. No.
4. We'll see!

Which means:

$240 for a production version in S35VN; no warranty, and who knows how the quality will be.
$350 for the production version in M390; same as above.

I'm not convinced until you knock another $100 of the price and add a warranty. (Then I still don't want recurve, but whatever.)

How is this a huge issue? I mean, let's be candid. If this businessman, trying to start up a business, is discouraged out of doing so by several people here, on a webforum being frank with their preference for domestic (to them) market product, is that really our problem? We are a tiny portion of the knife-buying public. There are, and will always be plenty of Americans who don't care where their products are made, and don't care that our manufacturing base is gone for the most part. That's why Wal-Mart* is the number one company on the Fortune 500. So, why should this guy care what some of us think?

*Looooooove how my WMT shares have performed in the past ten years

Thank you for being honest about it being a production knife
Some manufacturers from China have tried to pass theirs off as Customs here before.
Many newer members in this thread tried to argue that it was a Custom knife. Thanks again for being honest about it and clearing that up for them.

It is a great looking knife, but I do feel your price is a bit high. Maybe not though. One would have to see the knife in person and try it out to really know. I don't think many here will pay that price without knowing for sure. You should think about doing a pass-around so some Blade Forum members could check it out and post feedback.
Good luck.
