Now that’s customer service! Beautiful pair of knives.Here's an interesting one. A guy called me and he was cutting rope and his blade broke on him. I was interested so I had him send it in. We talked and I would replace the knife. He decided to go with AEB-L this time as I didn't have any 26C3 blades heat treated. He uses the knife daily so didn't want to wait for a new batch of HC blades. My stuff often gets used very hard and there was cow guacamole on both the blade, handle and sheath. The sheath had been modified from a pancake into a Slotted by cutting off one side.
When I saw it I was kinda perplexed.I figured either a flaw in the steel, unlikely. A flaw in heat treat, unlikely, a flaw in the grinding on me most likely. But I was unable to tell, nothing stood out. Queen Sabe?
I made him up the new knife:
With a Slotted sheath.
Just for laughs I thought I'd see if I could fix the old one and dang if I wasn't able to.
So I sent both back.
Still kinda a perplexment.
Thanks. Every knife maker deals with some broken blades. Usually it's just the tip (we know how that happens, I don't even ask anymore), very easy to fix. But, I'd not seen a blade break like this before. And I have made LOTS of knives that are used this hard. So I was kinda curious. The breakage is obviously rope shaped. Just don't know.
Thank you. She's finishing off a pair of bags right now. They were made for two sisters using their father's Olathe tall top boots. He had passed on some years back. Each purse is the same and each is different. They are very cool. Yeah give her a call and talk to her about a boot purse.

He might have been cutting rope at the time, I reckon it would what he was cutting previously could have hit something metal caused a small fracture on the edge.

That chip out of the blade looks like he tried to use the edge as a screw driver and snapped out that chip. JohnNothing like a good mystery.

Thought about it for a few days and the El Toro is now ordered haha. I dont really have a need for a nice fixed blade, but i dont really have a need for 20 or so fancy folding knives either.

This one went to FL. The customer picked out the handle slabs from my supplier and had them dropped shipped to me to build the knife for him. This is one of my El Toros. Also ordered a water buffalo belt at the same time:

They are just about as bullet proof as leather can get. The belt is just a plain Wicket and Craig saddle skirting belt.
