How Benchmade is sailing away on a boat that KAI somehow missed.

Neither of them were ever used to cut anything sturdier than an envelope. The were both primarily hand toys. The steel construction combined with the 410 handles made them the quietest of my flippers so flipping them obsessively was somewhat less annoying to those around me. This made them very fun to play with but they did not hold up to that use.

Seems like design or material failure! I'd send them back to KAI USA.

You don't find it insulting to the people of Kai USA and their associates that you PRESUME to know what they should have done or not done?

You are aware that the reason that Kai USA no longer has a s/f on BFC was because of the huge amount of posters who presumed to know what the company should have/have not done?

You can decide for yourself if that is "harmful or consequential".

Kai Corp has beat the production and sales expectations of everyone associated with the company year after year without any downturn...popularity amongst a vocal and frankly quite negative, minute segment of the knife community notwithstanding.

I offered to help the op out with his problem requesting an e-mail, which I have not gotten....the successful fixing of the problem would be a reasonable goal to reasonable people would it not?

But that would take away a major part of the reason that the complaint is about, thus denying the attention so gained by like minded individuals.

11,818 posts and you're still not getting it.

What you are doing Mr. Garsson, if this is how I should refer to your eminence, is the very definition of internet forum trolling. I have made a post that expresses multiple opinions I have and very obviously share with more than at least one other person on this forum. Therefore whether you like it or not, I indeed have found a forum on which to discuss them.

As for your self interested defense of KAI's honor, there is no need. I love KAI as they are and am already an avid Kershaw and ZT collector. They HAVE received MY money. They WANT my opinion and I might accurately PRESUME they pay lots of money to other entities to get it. Here I am giving it to them for free of my own volition. I doubt that in my and others constructive opinion, that there is room in the market for expansion of their collaboration with Matt Diskin, is insulting in the least to KAI. You however, a man who seems to regard himself to be of significance, by possessing an opinion that is superior to others, seem to be the only one insulted. Could it be because you somehow have a delusional sense that you must be accepted by all, as some kind of authoritative critic on all things both edged and metallic?

I personally don't care who you are but because of your reputation, I am appalled at how you have so mindlessly done your beloved community such a disservice with your contributions to this thread. I politely suggest you withdraw from this thread because you do not seem to be winning many followers with your conduct here.

Wow, Silverds, that pic of both lockbars failing is atrocious. I am not sure what I'd be thinking, but none of it would be good. That Benchmade looks fantastic, also. May have to pick one of those up.

OP, thanks for firing me up again about the Crooked River. Looking forward to picking up the Dyamondwood iteration.

Too bad about the cold reception to Bladeforums. The "ignore list" setting is a good way to evaporate the opinions of those you find irritating, passive-aggressive, etc. Best of luck.

Self-involved much?

The post you quoted was directed to the Forumite that I quoted, not you.

Carry on smartly, and pack what you politely suggest. This is General, the place where ALL the kids get to play.

I want to personally thank everyone who has contributed to this thread by appreciating my perspective that Benchmade is capitalizing on a knife style that in my opinion as a valued consumer, KAI should have. I also want to thank others who disagree that any of the knives I mentioned in my initial post, should elicit similar emotions in anyone. As for those few who choose to continue to negatively comment on my thread title, my low post count, my naivety in knife collecting or my reaction to people trolling my thread, shame on you. This forum can be a fun place to discuss a beloved hobby or a place for uptight and delusional, self professed authorities to destroy everyone else's will to contribute. I would like to continue discussing my original post in a constructive manner with anyone who wishes to, in the General Discussion where it belongs. If this thread does earn the attention of the moderators, I implore them to direct any corrective action to where it is most due.

Thank you sir. I very much appreciate this suggestion as a way to continue enjoying being a participant in this thread and forum.

I look forward to future contributions and discussions with/from you, OP. Don't let a few arrogant / argumentative users spoil the fun for you. The faceless nature of Internet discussions can make even perfectly reasonable and likeable people act like turds. Even if someone presents a valid point, the method in which they present it is very important... Something for all of us to keep in mind.

Also, I kinda want them to come out with a fixed blade version of the crooked river! Too few bolsters on production fixed blades IMO.

Crooked River all the way. I feel it is more similar "in hand feel" to the buck 110. I own both. Carried a buck 110 for years and to me they are interchangeable.

Thank you very much for your support. I agree. I would also like to see a Benchmade fixed blade "Hunter" in the style of the Crooked River.

Something like this perhaps..

Holy Cow!!! No one can ever accuse you of not loving that Buck. Great pics of your knives, thank you.

"Cold steel Broken Skull? Anyone? Anyone?"

Bueller?:p

"Cold steel Broken Skull? Anyone? Anyone?"]

Mieh! I'll pass on this one. It might sell well enough with any of these other words alternatively printed on it "JEEP", MAXPEDITION, USMC, SEAL or BSA.

If they really want to make a killing, they should print "BladeForums" on it.

Sorry Comeuppance, I seemed to have missed a key point in your wish for a fixed blade version with bolsters. I hope this is more in line with your request

You're making me want things that don't exist and that is just cruel.

Only boat being missed is by the people that are not buying real DISKINS :)

Man that guy is a real talent. I have looked for his customs and I just feel that I am not "yet" at a stage where I am comfortable spending more than $300 on a knife. I have done it once with my ZT0454-204P, and I must admit when I carry it, it is always accompanied by its cheaper version that gets put in harms way. I am not yet ready to succumb to that impulse again.

Matt is a really gifted maker that is for sure

What's nice is that his designs are always evolving

Bad part of that is that if you don't get a piece while he is making them they are gone ...... This makes them very collectable and desirable

I've been EDCing a Fire for many many years and all I can say is that it just does not get any better

He has a new DA coming out for debut at this years Blade show ...... I'm betting it's gonna be a show stopper :)

HAHAHA indeed. I was also pretty let down, after chopping it, that is was just a figment of my imagination.

Do you hear that, KAI and Benchmade? ...the faint whispering...?
