How Benchmade is sailing away on a boat that KAI somehow missed.

your over reactive response shows a complete lack of even an elemental cognizance

you, a person that seems to consider themselves, sharp and yet, profoundly ignorant that their insults veiled in pretentious hyperbole, directed at a poster because they made a comparison you seem to be insulted by, have welled up from deep seeded insecurity and need to assert yourself as some sort of authority on the science and philosophy of subjective opinion. I might say that in that comparison, I would consider you the most profoundly irritating tool of them all.

So these 2 statements are a reasonable reply?

Asphincter says what?

You, person of hazy identity, are guilty as charged!

Man I get that apparently you are a well respected knife critic but do you have to act like this?

If you pretend you don't know what I am talking about that can only mean you are purposely being dense or this is just who you are.

We all have bad days, hopefully this is just a bad day for you and something is under your skin. Yea the thread title is slanted toward benchmade but you crusading for KaI by being rude does nothing for your image. Just an onlookers 2cents. And looking down on everyone who doesn't post their name in every post is silly.
It's right in this thread. Your point?

STeven Garsson

I missed that thanks, yea he definitely isn't helping. But that sure doesn't change the tone Mr. Garsson entered this thread with and maintained.

My normal everyday tone and manner is brusque.

I turn into a complete a**hole if given enough provocation. That isn't any secret, you know it well.

The tried and true "it's just my opinion, I don't know anything, someone give me a hug" for newbies is played out, they grew up with the internet...it's BS.

The tone that I started with and maintained will hold up because it isn't BS....it's a legitimate position based upon knowledge and experience, which can contribute to a person becoming brusque or an a**hole, which cannot necessarily be said for the OP.

Entitlement is a four letter word.

No....this is where we run the risk of circling around

Comeuppance or whoever the f that is stated that no harm was done by the op.

Kai used to have an active s/f here....they left it EXACTLY because of threads like this. I don't THINK that is the case, I KNOW it is because Thomas W. who ran the s/f is one of my best friends.

What was supposed to be all cool and fun turned into a bitchfest for the "entitled" to whine about how they weren't getting what they wanted.

Now the Kershaw/Kai s/f on BFC doesn't exist.

You can make your own decision if posts like the OP's cause harm or not, I have already weighed in.

BTW, addressing the "anonymity" of the internet, for like the 1,000th time, I sign every one of my posts with my name....what about the rest of you?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Please don't take this the wrong way as I'm not at all trying to stir the pot or argue with you, but all the manufacturer sub forums get their fare share of people requesting things and getting upset when it doesn't happen. All I take from your response here is that kershaw just didn't want to deal with it so they took the easy way out and just left the forum. Take Spyderco for example. Sal and Eric are very active and class acts. They come here to take the good with the bad and try to make an all around solid product that appeals to their customers. There has been lots of people that get upset because they didn't get what they wanted but they take it as constructive criticism, thank them for their input, and move on. They don't just run away and say "we're making money and growing every quarter so screw these people".

I can be abrasive as well and I understand your position. Just saying coming off the way you have in this thread is strong and not in a good way. There are ways to say what you feel without being overly Demeaning. (note; I am guilty of this at time as well)

I'm aware you probably don't care, just saying what it is.

Take it easy.

Seriously? Cry me a river.

Used to work in product management. I've operated product oriented mail lists and forums for products I've created and dealt the with the whining and complaining and bad press and the whole nines yards.

Companies leave forums of this nature because they don't have, can't find or don't understand the sort of employees needed to represent the company in a public forum. It's a very hard thing to institutionalize and programatize as it requires a combination of good product knowledge and forum skillz.

Sorry your BFF got his feelings hurt. But honestly, if product managers or company owners have their feelings involved, they have no business being on an open forum.

Best product management advice I ever got can be boiled down to a single statement. The answer is not in your building.

Forums provide companies with direct access to potential customers. News flash... Some of them are angry jerks.

Critics may or may not be telling a company something they should listen to. That's the art of good product management - to be able to tell the difference. Not every piss moan or demand is worth following.

Seriously, if Kai or any other vendor decides to not engage with forums its an indication they don't have personnel in house capable of extracting good information from the engagement.

Good post, this.

To the poster who started this thread - I agree with your original post; I didn't find it was an insult to KAI/ZT, of whom I am a big fan (I own 4 ZTs and at least as many Kershaws).

Also, I love the crooked river, and just received mine in the mail today

There actually were some truly dedicated dicks that would go around crapping up every ZT/Kershaw thread there was.
It was annoying and pathetic.
People would even bitch about the free knife they got...truly low-class all the way.
I don't remember their names anymore because they aren't worth remembering, but it was annoying to watch at the time.

Watching the way certain folks behaved towards KAI made me really glad that I don't own a business.

I care.

Care a great deal for this community, and what really sets me off are the people that post crap who have no skin in the game, and that is a fault that I own.

Do appreciate your post, and will try to lighten up.

I understand where you're coming from and feel the same about this community. Bladeforums is an amazing collage of information, companies, makers, customers, people and opinions. Truly unique and something of a home for many of us. I'd imagine that feeling is just as strong or stronger for those of you who have been here longer.

Wish you all the best.

Much appreciated and reciprocated.

Hope you have the opportunity to find out how much this community can mean to you as you get back what you give!

Excellent pic, thank you. Perfectly served up on a backdrop of grey ripstop. LOL

I really cannot wait for mine to arrive.

So true. I've seen some amazing people on here and a community that pulls together to help their own unlike any other. I can only hope that I can contribute in the way many others have and do. As I get into knife making I'm sure I'll be drawn deeper in, after all this is THE place to be.
Much appreciated and reciprocated.

The point I've raised a already is that your criticism was reasonable and by most measures downright complimentary and that the OP's response was like melt down straight out of Whine and Cheese.

It's off side to call someone "the most profoundly irritating tool" and you can't chalk that up to any sort of misunderstanding of what he's saying.

Brusque if you want to use that term but I prefer Laconic. That's my preferred form of speech for a reply as I"m not a fan of the wall of text.
