How Benchmade is sailing away on a boat that KAI somehow missed.

Matt is a really gifted maker that is for sure

What's nice is that his designs are always evolving

Bad part of that is that if you don't get a piece while he is making them they are gone ...... This makes them very collectable and desirable

I've been EDCing a Fire for many many years and all I can say is that it just does not get any better

He has a new DA coming out for debut at this years Blade show ...... I'm betting it's gonna be a show stopper :)

Always good to see another nut for knives in PA, Bethlehem no less. The pictures in this thread are incredible. Broken knives. Awesome knives. Discord. Excellent thread!

I doubt I would ever carry a knife that big on a regular basis as my ZT0562 sees far too little pocket time as it is, but that Crooked River is a beautiful knife... If they made a mini around 3.25 to 3.5 it may have to duke it out with my BM940 for pocket time.

I guess this is the closest offering we have until they make the fixed blade crooked River(fingers crossed) [emoji106]

Thank you very much for your support. I agree. I would also like to see a Benchmade fixed blade "Hunter" in the style of the Crooked River.

Something like this perhaps..

That looks appealing to me. I would be interested to see a fixed varient of the Crooked River. We can always hope and see if it develops.

While we're looking at hunters...Here is an Emerson Appalachian, his first hunting blade, that I simply love but I'm an Emerson guy(by no means did I used to be) and not everyone is but once you get one in hand there's just something about them. And for guys that tried them in the past, the new models are much smoother. Different designs on the internals. Some of my buddies have asked if they're on bearings.

You don't find it insulting to the people of Kai USA and their associates that you PRESUME to know what they should have done or not done?

You are aware that the reason that Kai USA no longer has a s/f on BFC was because of the huge amount of posters who presumed to know what the company should have/have not done?

You can decide for yourself if that is "harmful or consequential".

Kai Corp has beat the production and sales expectations of everyone associated with the company year after year without any downturn...popularity amongst a vocal and frankly quite negative, minute segment of the knife community notwithstanding.

I offered to help the op out with his problem requesting an e-mail, which I have not gotten....the successful fixing of the problem would be a reasonable goal to reasonable people would it not?

But that would take away a major part of the reason that the complaint is about, thus denying the attention so gained by like minded individuals.

You're taking the original post wayyyyy too seriously. Almost seems like you've got a bone to pick on behalf of kai

No....this is where we run the risk of circling around

Comeuppance or whoever the f that is stated that no harm was done by the op.

Kai used to have an active s/f here....they left it EXACTLY because of threads like this. I don't THINK that is the case, I KNOW it is because Thomas W. who ran the s/f is one of my best friends.

What was supposed to be all cool and fun turned into a bitchfest for the "entitled" to whine about how they weren't getting what they wanted.

Now the Kershaw/Kai s/f on BFC doesn't exist.

You can make your own decision if posts like the OP's cause harm or not, I have already weighed in.

BTW, addressing the "anonymity" of the internet, for like the 1,000th time, I sign every one of my posts with my name....what about the rest of you?

Well, my sig line goes to my books which are published with my name. ;)
Anonymity ain't a concern of mine.

Kohai, this is a board for the discussion of knives.

People have perspectives and opinions on these knives, and this is where they can share them.

The OP has expressed his opinion and perspective on something he has thought about. He did this without insulting any members or asserting any variety of authority or attempting to limit discussion.

You should take some cues from the OP.

And as you so aptly state in your sig line...."I have no dinosaur in this orgy".

He insulted Kai like there were not people involved behind the company, and if you can't see that you are either obtuse or mentally handicapped, grow the "eff" up.

This is General, where most of the newbs congregate, and the regulars have the good sense to avoid.

While you support the OP, only time will tell if "they" become a contributing member to the community/BFC or are simply a tourist

At least you are supporting the Forums with some money and active participation, but...oh yeah....who are you again?

I dunno where this post fits in to the current discussion, but I will just add that I love Diskin designs, I too was hoping for a ZT collab that would be like a larger, nicer version of the Strobe. And I also love the new Benchmade Crooked River knives, although something above S30V would have been nice...

This has been a weird day. Strangeness all around. Some strangeness even outside of Bladeforums!. There are a lot of people taking shots at each other in this thread whom I respect. Hopefully you guys can get along. We all just want to go home at the end of the day and fondle some knives, maybe have a beer or two, or a ginger ale...what have you.....

More ZT models is always a good thing. :)

Seriously? Cry me a river.

Used to work in product management. I've operated product oriented mail lists and forums for products I've created and dealt the with the whining and complaining and bad press and the whole nines yards.

Companies leave forums of this nature because they don't have, can't find or don't understand the sort of employees needed to represent the company in a public forum. It's a very hard thing to institutionalize and programatize as it requires a combination of good product knowledge and forum skillz.

Sorry your BFF got his feelings hurt. But honestly, if product managers or company owners have their feelings involved, they have no business being on an open forum.

Best product management advice I ever got can be boiled down to a single statement. The answer is not in your building.

Forums provide companies with direct access to potential customers. News flash... Some of them are angry jerks.

Critics may or may not be telling a company something they should listen to. That's the art of good product management - to be able to tell the difference. Not every piss moan or demand is worth following.

Seriously, if Kai or any other vendor decides to not engage with forums its an indication they don't have personnel in house capable of extracting good information from the engagement.

Just from a nobody newb observer, does anybody else find any portion of this post insulting or condescending?

I'm just curious.
