I am probably an 8-9.5
I can justify spending more on a spyderco than another brand because I have quite a few that I have used and none have failed.
I own a few benchmades. One bali, the rest folders. The bali was older and cheap, and I grabbed it because it was a small one. There are a few BM folders that are pleasing aesthetically, but I find that BM blades are ground to a wider angle than I like, and although I can sharpen a knife quite well, I'm too lazy to reprofile.

especially with the tool steels (I have 2 in D2. the rest are ats-34 or 154CM).
My father used a spyderco to save his life in a minor boating mishap, and the first day I ever worked for pay on a boat, I had his endura SE in my pocket. In those days I hated working on boats, and I wasn't too thrilled with spyderco. both grew on me, to the point that no matter what knife I carry to work (I carry a few) at least 2 are spyderco knives. I just picked up a new military, it's probably the most I'm willing to spend on a single spyderco, especially when i've been getting on fine with the lower end models, and I don't mind buying slightly used knives. I could have gotten a few scratched up FRN spyders for what I paid for the mili..and I got it cheap
My main reason for being pretty brand loyal to Sal and crew is the hole. I find it the easiest and most efficient opening method. I've had things I'm cutting catch on thumb studs and discs, I've missed opening the knife with them, and when my hands are wet or cold, the hole is easier to find and use than a small stud or narrow disc.
I've never used the customer service from spyderco. I like the fact that if I ever did (probably won't, if the knife breaks, it probably was misuse on my part

) get a defective spyder though, that I'll be taken care of.
That said, the newest spyder I'm carrying is the military, and after a minor repair (I've only had it for four days!) and some pretty hard use yesterday, i'm impressed.
