How do you carry your slipjoints?

RFP: keys, coins, knife (sometimes in jeans watch pocket)

LFP: iPhone, harmonica

Works for me. :-)

So, do you guys carry traditional knives only in your pockets, only in some kind of belt sheath/pouch, a little of both depending on the knife, or something completely different?

It depends on the knife but mostly I just drop the knife in my pocket.

RFP - Whatever knife I'm carrying and my inhaler (asthma). Generally something relatively small.
LFP - Cell phone and hand sanitizer (I'm a Dad).
RBP - Small wallet
LBP - Folding Money and change

Always the same. Anal, but I know where everything is. I used to carry a leek clipped to my Right rear, but I've been a one knife guy lately.

I wear jeans 70% of the time, and all of my watch pockets are deep enough to carry any of my traditionals, so thats where they usually go. LFP-wallet, RFP-phone and keys, RBP-bandanna
However, the other 30% I like to wear looser fitting chinos. I normally have problems carrying a knife in this type of pant as the pockets are much looser, and my car is low to the ground and the seat bottoms are angled back so that things like to slide out of my pocket, especially during acceleration. I haven't found an effective way to prevent this yet :(

The type of pants you wear will most certainly have a direct bering on how to carry your knife. I usually don't wear much other than jeans, and even in hot weather my shorts are jean shorts by the same maker as my regular jeans. Same pocket layout make things a habit. Once in a while Karen instructs my to wear my 'grown up clothes' when we're going out someplace. I've found the wadded up bandana on top of the pocket knife works well in the looser fitting Docker's style of pants. At least it works well with peanuts, small sak's, and such. But then I don't drive any low slung sports cars...to darn hard to climb out of at my age without help.

Carl.

I am sorry guys, but these "man purses" are the way to go for the chino/low seat problems. I made the belt attachments myself. The thin one is braided SpiderWire Bass line. Buy the leather slips from someone and go from there. Use chrome chain if you are wearing your black leathers..........remember Scout camp for braiding method. 300

I'm sorry Buck's but those are not man purses. Those are pocket sheaths for pocket knives. A man purse is something stylish, that a human male that is not qualified for the issue of a man card, will have hanging from a shoulder, just like one of the girls. Your pocket knife sheaths are a functional bit of man's gear to safeguard the cutting tools. I wouldn't feel at all ashamed to carry a peanut in one.

They are manly!

Hmm, I kind of like that those 300. I think I'll try that, SS or silver pocket watch chain might work quite nicely for that.
Carl, I'm going to try out the bandanna in the same pocket with the knife. I may have to relocate the phone which will take some getting used to, but this seems like the simplest idea. Thanks guys

My two favorite slipjoints are 2 7/8" and 3" in length, so the watch pocket is where they go, if my pants are so equipped. Otherwise they go into the little slot within the RF pocket that many of my dress pants have. I think it's for coins or something.

I have actually gotten to the point where I specifically seek pants with these features when clothes shopping (priorities . . . )

I thought I was the only one that worried about scratching up my pretty knife. I carry my nice ones on Sundays in the right pocket and nothing else will go in that pocket. The left will be the catch all.....loose change, keys, etc. As far as my EDC, I don't care if it gets "banged up. If by chance I forget that I am carrying one of my cream of the crop knives and I scratch it up with keys or loose change....it will receive a good polishing later.

I put my wallet and knife in the same pocket. The knife gets scratched up a bit. Bit I don't mind. Adds some character.

There's always a blade of some sort in the right front pocket, whether jeans or cargo shorts (all I wear these days). I'll let the folder share space with some folding money every so often, but otherwise it rides solo.

Left front gets the keywad (keys, whistle, flashlight, etc) and any loose change, but I try to limit that to a single quarter since the jingle jangle makes me a little crazy.

I don't like to carry my phone so it rides in a pocket of my messenger/book bag, likewise with my wallet. Sitting on a wallet can really screw up your spinal alignment.

I carry mine in LFP with a Zippo. Even though I am right handed, I have a peculiar way of opening my slippies due to a hand that has been broken a couple of times in my younger wilder days.

I use a leather slip for the knife. It is not there to protect the knife - it is there to protect my suit pants. They were developing wear holes from where the end of the knife sat.

i've taken to either the watch pocket when the knife fits, the smaller snap-closure pockets on my cargo shorts if there is one, or if just RFP carrying i'll usually go with the bandana method which works really well unless like others have mentioned i'm wearing looser-fitting pants. for those that use the bandana method, do you just ball it up and stuff it next to the vertical blade? ball it up and stuff it on top of/over the vertical blade? ball it up and stuff it on top of the horizontal blade? i've taken to folding the bandana so that it's thick enough to fill some pocket space and keep the knife upright/vertical and then placing the blade in after that, vertically on the inside part of the pocket. i prefer it to balling up the bandana...i end up with less of a wad in my pocket. like i said works well except when pants are looser, then it works just OK.

In my pocket, but I do want some leather slips for my more expensive slipjoints and attach to my belt or clip to cargoes waist...mainly so I dont lose them and I dont want to bust up my fav folders.

300bucks who makes those slips? are they pretty universal?
