How do you store your traditional knives

Has anyone that uses a case like pictured below, have you had or heard of any issues of the knives getting marked up or stained by the elastic straps?

I have three of that specific folder plus several others of similar design in various sizes - 24, 16, 8, 6, some of which I've had for at least 15 years. I've had zero problems so far (knock on wood). I store them in the narrow side of a HOMSAFE gun cabinet.

I've read posts by nay sayers who denigrate these types of storage folders but I have nothing bad to say about them and will buy more as needed and space permits. They're convenient and bring order to chaos. My experience. Your mileage may vary.

My biggest problem is getting them out of the cabinet (they're crammed in there pretty tight) and remembering which one holds what.

Thanks much for the reply. I have just purchased some Hickory Hill knife rolls and I must say I am impressed! I was a little worried about the knives beating each other up when rolled, but they seem to be protected pretty well.

When I started building this display I thought my collection would only fill the half of it [emoji33]
But there's still some room to expand [emoji4]

That's a VERY attractive wall-mounted display case, zolthar!! :thumbup::thumbup:

Fantastic Harry! Especially love the Catt's shelf. Did you build the glass topped cases as well?

Thank you for the kind words sir. I appreciate it very much .
I did not build them . Both of the cases were gifted to me by some of my children.

You are welcome Harry. You have some generous and thoughtful children. Cases like those don't come cheap and they picked a gift Dad would like. Thanks for sharing them with us. -James

I have what I think is a smaller version of that & I like the one I have well enough that I have the larger size one on the way. Right now, the little one is storage for all of my li'l JA Henckels knives, except that little trick knife stowaway at the bottom right. Once the new case gets here, he's getting kicked out and he'll have to hang out with the non-Henckels knives for a while. :p

Regarding the case, I've heard folks say ("folks" being Amazon reviewers) that because of the way the elastic is one continuous piece that's stitched down every three loops (in the case of mine), it can affect knife placement. Three big 'uns directly next to each other in the same section will make the elastic tighter than three small one positioned the same way. That said, I have mine with two big ones next to each other on one side (because it was bothering me not having them in order from little to big) and the elastic is tighter in that spot, but doesn't seem like it's going to tear or pull loose any time soon. Aaaand now I've jinxed myself and it'll all be falling apart tomorrow. :D

Forgive the self indulgent & poor quality photo. :o

Those are some great looking cases and shelves Harry! I really like the idea of displaying a selection on a smaller shelf.

Thanks for the kind words Zolthar .
My original thought on the smaller shelves was : A Barlow for every day of the week plus my regular EDC . Then it just expanded into others.

I've enjoyed reading thru this thread and seeing all the great displays. I've been looking for an interesting/old/cool way to display / store my slowly growing EDC rotation...think I found it today!
