How Good Is 1/16 O-1? Do you want to find out?

Afraid I'll have to ask for the next address, I'm not going to be able to get anything much done with it for a while, thanks again protourist!

You're very welcome. I'm always happy to let people play with my toys. It's great to see what others think of my ideas and John's work.

:) thanks Mack,

Cooper, got your PM, I'll get it shipped off to you asap, you're going to like it ;)

Cooper, it's doubtful, but if you are in my area anytime soon hit me up and I'll touch up that edge if it needs it.

Have fun with it.

OK guys, looking for some help. Trying to decide between this knife and the Kitchen Utility knife. Any input is appreciated - pros/cons of each.

My use would be general kitchen use, both home and in camp.

Hi - I took some side by side pictures (quick and dirty) for you and also will give you my impressions -

The Galley Wag is a little larger, with more belly for chopping, and it also has a little bit of a built in thumb-ramp with mild serrations. The GW has a thicker, beefier handle, with a more rounded butt, and fills my hand a little better.

The Kitchen series has a more traditional birds-head butt, it is a little narrower in overall handle diameter, and has a defined palm swell. The Camp and Kitchen (what John originally called the knife) feels good in your hand. For me, with longer fingers, I am more comfortable on the GW, with it's more bulbous handle.

Either knife is very good, and for kitchen use they both excel (I think that is just the 1/16 blade thickness).

The GW has a little more belly and I think overall I prefer the GW to the Camp and Kitchen. The C&K is a no-nonsense knife, and the Galley Wag has a little more flair to the styling, reminiscent of an old Randall; the GW's larger brother, Protourist's Cutlass, was designed to pay tribute to an older Randall.

It boils down to which design you like better, and if you have larger hands with longer fingers, you might feel more comforable with the larger handle on the GW.

Thank you Andy. I love waking up in the morning and learning. Great comparison. I haven't tried the C&K so I couldn't answer.

Thank you mqqn! Great comparison. Just the info I was looking for. They both look good and would make excellent kitchen knives. Seeing the handles together made me realize I'd probably prefer the GW due to my XL hands.

Thanks!

Thanks guys for all the help. Placed my first order with John for the Galley Wag (and a Survival Tin Knife).

I hope you're feeding it well. It needs a lot of meat to keep it happy.
Enjoy!!!
