How Good Is 1/16 O-1? Do you want to find out?

The GW makes a pretty good tater cutter,

and an excellent steak knife.

The plan was to take a bunch of outside photos, but it was cloudy most of the day. With any lucky, it will be sunny in the morning when I get off work.

I am seriously considering having a set of wooden plates made dpi can enjoy my favorite cutlery at every meal;)

Yeah that would be a good idea.

It didn't occur to me before I sliced into that steak, but cutting into that plate did not help the edge at all.:o

Just a couple flats spots on the belly, easy fix.

I would be comfortable sharpening it, matching Ken's bevels or sending it back to Ken (if that is okay) before it goes to the next person.

Do with it what you would with your own knives. I wouldn't be sending it to you if I didn't trust you.

Thanks, Mack. I appreciate that.

The sun came out for a few minutes before it set, so I got a chance to take a couple photos.

It is a little tricky to catch the proper color of a well earned patina, and this photo has a few shadows because of the trees around it, but it does show some of the blue tint after the steak.

Not sure I've ever seen John use this color dye before, but it looks nice. Another solid, working sheath that does its job.

However there is something strange about it. It is hard to put my finger on, it just doesn't seem quite........right.

Had some sunshine earlier today, so I took the opportunity to snap some photos with other knives.

When I see a knife on the internet, I often wonder what it would feel like in hand. While there is no substitute for actually holding the knife, I took some photos that will hopefully give a little perspective as to the size of the knife.\

First, my JK Fish Knife.

These two are virtually the same length, both are 1/16" thick.

Scrapyard 460. I got this knife for hunting, but I can see it being replaced by a GW.

Cooper's Hawk. Not really comparable, but here it is.:p

One of two ebony knives that I have. GEC #72.

Buck 110 that I got from John at the Michigan Gathering. Thanks John!

I have no idea how this happened, there must be a glitch in Picasa software. Maybe this will make you go as cross-eyed as it did me.:D

A couple close up shots comparing the differences of two different ebony handles.

I much prefer the subdued beauty of the grain in the Galley Wag. It can really only be appreciated in natural light.

An in hand shot.

This knife feels fantastic in my hand. Like the Ultralight Hunter, the edge comes all the way back to the handle. Some folks find this a little dangerous, but I would rather have it like this sometimes, rather than always snagging it on the material being cut.

Next up is some "glamor" shots. May bring out some of my Great Grandfather's old tools. That could make or some interesting photos.

Thanks for all the great shots.
Love the glitch pic.:D

I love seeing a great knife being used.

A couple more this evening.

With my Great Grandfather's 870. I can't begin to guess how many deer and turkeys he killed with this shotgun.

Here it is underneath the dinner bell. My Great Grandmother would ring this bell to call her family out of the woods and fields for supper.

Cool 870 & even cooler that you have your Great Grandmothers dinner bell.
That's a couple of really nice heirlooms.

Thanks!
Technically I don't "have" them, I am lucky enough to live at the family farm, basically occupying and up-keeping the place for the time being. Me, a couple barn cats and two hundred acres.:D

love the pictures, the last one is especially cool, not just because of the dinner bell (although that's awesome) but I think you did a nice job on the picture itself - I like the angle. Thanks again!
