I tried to call him today and I got his message that has his new number.
I called the new number and left a message on his machine.
The wait continues...

I got a response from Eddie today:

I spoke with my sheath maker last night via email. I have finally have a group of sheaths coming in the mail now, and he will continue to ship in waves weekly until he is caught up. I already have the hawks, and have since February, and am REALLY looking forward to getting them in customers’ hands.

Make it a great day,

Hey guys,

I am still here. I am still waiting on sheaths though. And just recieved another run of 250 spike hawks to take up even more space in my garage. So, I now have hundreds of hawks, about half of them waiting since February for sheaths.

I spoke with Robert at Survival Sheath Systems, and he is doing his best to get me a great product. Please remember, that these sheaths are all handmade by Robert himself, and he is considered by many to be the best in the Kydex industry.

If you have any questions, comments, or just want to yell at me about waiting so long, feel free to email or call me.:D

I have now been waiting 8 months for my K5, and am getting pretty tired of reasons why I don't have it in my hands. Every month I ask for an update and every month I get a reason why I don't have but no estimation on when I will have it. Are there others that have been waiting this long?

4 month wait here. Last time I heard from him, he said the hawks were ready, but the sheaths were the hold up. That was said in September.

Nice looking hawks with great reviews, but maybe I missed this in the continuing saga. Why not ship the hawks now, ship the sheaths later or refund the difference and forgo the sheath. I wanted to buy 2 (still want) of his hawks but now I'm glad that I didn't send the money. I have little patience :jerkit: Yes, I know that it would incur a few extra dollars for shipping but I would want my hawk with or without sheath :D

I bought one when they first came out. They are worth the wait IMHO. My product was flawless and it's my #1 SHTF sharpened object. I believe Eddy has fallen in the pitfall of many new players on the market. He made a great tool with a price that could easely be inflated to about 50% and still would be a bargain.
It's not as light as a VTAC or my fav throwing hawk, but in case of a life or death situations this one will be by my side.
Just my opinion on the first run batch. I hope Eddy will catch up with his orders and keep it the way they used to be.

My two cents: I think lots of us waiting customers are starting to think that something may be rotten in Denmark.

In my experience with the retail business, communication is the key to satisfied customers . . . especially when something goes wrong. If K5 has production or third party vendor issues, they should post the details here and/or on their web site.

I have been waiting since march. At this point I would be happy to receive a hawk with a cardboard sheath. I had been planning to replace the kydex sheath with leather anyway...

Got it last week. It was worth the wait. Everything I liked about my Hawk-Spike in a configuration that better suits my style. Here it is with a Mantis Knives MF-4CM I've matched it up with (all my hawks are matched with knives), you don't need or want a lot of knife with this hawk. Both are being resheathed by Fire Brand Leather.

Hi Dwight,

Good feel. Grippy, but not so much that it abrades your palm with hard use.
Decent balance, and boy does this beast hit with authority. :D
I like the wedge end on the handle of this one, better than the flat end of my Hawk-Spike handle as well.

Bladewolf, the question is how long did you have to wait to actually get one?

About a year. But... a). It was a special order, I wanted black powder coating instead of tan, and I wield a hawk Southpaw, so I wanted a sheath made to my Spec's. b). I purposely deprioritized my own order, when Eddie had problems with a run of bad stock from an unscrupulous machinest, so someone in the Sandbox could get there's ASAP. My days on tactical are looong over, so this hawk is really just the pursuit of an interest for me.

FWIT, I got my original K5 Tactical Hawk-Spike in a matter of weeks. My style is just better suited to Hammer Polls, so wait I did.

I first became aware of these hawks in Jan. or Feb. 2006. I contacted Eddie by phone and requested some specific pics. of the utility hammer pole with the newly designed prybar handle end. He agreed to send the pictures to me. After several phone conversations and many excuses as to why I had not recieved them I became very unhappy with his service. I then recontacted him, I think around the beginning of October. Again he promissed to send me the pics. I have continued to follow up with him since then. Last week he called me and said that he would e-mail the pictures to me. I have still not received them and he continues to not answer his phone. This is ashame as I think that he has a good product but how can I justify sending him any money if he can't even seem to get me the pictures. Thankyou.

I recall that now is the one-year anniversary of the big splash cover story of the great yet undeliverable K5 in Tactical Knives magazine. Ho-hum.

NFA- :jerkit:

Eddie, I got faith in ya bro. That's why I ordered from ya, in spite of sheath troubles. Keep knockin' 'em out and prove the naysayers wrong!
