How long did you wait for your K5 Tomahawk?

I cant see why people would buy from a company that takes a year to get a loyal customer their product... Maybe its just me, but that seems a little long. With ATC, according to the website, you get it after about 2-6 weeks! Plus the K5 looks heavy as hell...

I think the K5 hawk is a great product, and Eddie is a great guy. I'll probably pick up one of his utility spike hawks down the line.

How about the wait time for hyper-loyal Randall Knives customers direct from the maker??? It's at 2.5-3yrs.

Either you're gonna wait, or your not! It's the choice only to be make by the customer. Nobody else will sway their decision one way or another........

Seems to me the only people complaining, with MINOR exceptions, are those who aren't even getting one.

In a perfect, flaw-free world, we wouldn't be waiting, but that will never occur. Taking into account the human factor, sub-vendors, outsourced manufacturing, etc, this wait is NO big deal. This tool is going into my BOB, and sight unseen, I choose to trust my life with it............

........it's gonna be worth the wait.

YMMV

I've been waiting since feb for the spike hawk. I also have no problem with the wait. Every time i've contacted Eddie he has responded in a timely manner. I believe the only hold up is on the spike hawk, because I also ordered a hammer poll and received it in a reasonable time.

Sorry to hear that I guess he's backed up on both. I love mine and would gladly wait again for another if needed.

I don't have one, but will probably add one to my growning collection sometime in the near future. I think the K5 is a cool axe. I don't understand why people complain about waiting for a quality product, let alone one that is actually made here in AMERICA.

I use the wait period to save up the money by figuring out how much I need to take out of each paycheck to have the cash by the quoted finish time. Right now, that equates to just about 9 bucks a check to pay off my Lee Reeves double-bit. If I were to add something else to my tomahawk queue, I'd just up the money I'm transfering into savings. Set up auto-transfer and forget about it until it's time to pay for your new toy.

FSCJedi,
I would probably feel better about the wait if my credit card hadn't been charged for the axe 8 months ago. That fact makes me nervous.

I have faith in Eddie you'll get your hawk. I waited about the same amount of time from charge. There have been a number of setbacks, and I don't blame Eddie for wanting to insure he's sending you the best product he can. I preferred the wait, to getting something I wouldn't be 100% satisfied with. Since I knew I was going to have mine resheathed, it didn't matter to me. If I had to use the sheath that Eddie wasn't satisfied with, I wouldn't have been either.

reconseed,

As to my year wait, if you were referring to me, as I've said, it was a custom order. I know a lot of makers where I'd have waited longer. I'm also STILL a loyal customer FWIW. BTW the weight is what makes it effective for expedient breaching, my hawks primary function. I like my TOP's Axes, but I couldn't blast through a barricade or concrete block, the way I did with my K5 Tactical Hawk-Spike, and it came back asking for more...

I wanted to be fair to Eddie, he has been very nice everytime that I have been able to speak to him. I also do not mind waiting for a quality product, but as I said, I was waiting for pictures/info to make a more informed choice.

Eddie did send me the pictures on Monday 12/04/06 and I have received them.

Just got an email from Eddie today. Seems he's going to check out Blade Tech now for sourcing of the sheaths.

I thought Buy Brown was already approved...........

Either way, I'm sure the end result will be a great hawk with a great sheath system.

I have waited 1 year and 1 month for the hawk I ordered from Killian. I have given him the option to send me the hawk without the sheath. I have made every attempt to communicate with him and have had to wait sometimes 2 weeks for him to respond to an e-mail or phone call. I sent him an e-mail through his website last sunday and I have called him a number of times and left messages. I have not heard a word. I have asked for my money back but have not received a penny. He has had $175.00 of my money for over a year and I have had nothing from him but excuses. He is the first knife or otherwise maker that has charged me BEFORE sending out the product. Bad business all around. Eddie, give me my money back.

I like the looks :) from the photos and the great reviews but, this is not a custom hawk but a mass produced product. I agree, I probably will pick up one of each later but only when someone has stock in hand or Eddie finds some reliable subcontractors to help in the production process. Charging the CC's before shipping and some claim for almost a year is out of line in my opinion. Hey, but who cares :foot: about my opinion  but nice Hawk's :D

Anyone who was charged for merchandise and have not received it should file a complaint with the chief law enforcement office (either a police department or county sheriff) wherever K5 is located or contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

762Shooter, I know you well. In our dealings over the past year I have found you to be a gentleman of integrity and principle. I have also found you to be patient and fair. However, I believe you've been patient enough. It's time to make a complaint to your local law enforcement agency. I would also lodge a complain with the US. Postal Inspectors, in addition to contacting Mr. Kilian's local Better Business Bureau with the intention of filing a BBB complaint. I waited five months for my K5, and at the time a felt that it was an excessive wait, especially given the promises Mr. Killian kept making that delivery was always just around the corner. But thirteen months? That's simply outrageous. It's time to bring hammer down brother. Swiftly and deliberatively...'cause it's not about the money anymore...it's about the principle.

I gave Eddie one last chance yesterday afternoon to either call me or e-mail me. I both called him AND e-mailed him. I have not received any response in the last 2 weeks from him. I am bringing the hammer down on this particular thief.

well im starting to worry now....my cc was charged about a year ago as well....eddie emailed me several times over the last year....I did sound strange that he wouldnt send the hawk and then the sheath later....please keep us posted............
