How many knives do you own?

Too many. Haven't counted in a while, but somewhere in the neighborhood of 70. I should liquidate some, since I only carry ten of then on a regular basis.
 
Last count of just fixed blade and folders (not counting two sets of kitchen knives) was ~160. The correct answer is ...never enough. ;)

5 fixed blades
1 axe
1 kukri (not really sure if it's a knife, machete, what have you)
 
at the moment I have approximately 60 if you include machetes, tomahawks and axes. All but about 4 of them are users. Some just happen to spend more time in my pocket than others!
 
I've owned maybe 50 in the few years I've been collecting but I only had 10-12 at a time. I'd trade, sell, and buy more than I'd accumulate. Eventually I sold everything except for a Case Swayback Jack and carried that for about two years and have stuck with one knife at a time until now. Planning a few purchases soon, though, and have ~75 knives on the wishlist.
 
300-400? Rough guess. 3 footlockers, 4 carry cases, a dr's bag and a couple drawers full. Not counting the 20-30 on the workbench and what's in the kitchen.

I keep a spreadsheet to keep track. Looks like 63 folders, 65 fixed blades, and around 25 'hawks.

Try adding values for each knife to your spreadsheet. That will really make you cringe!
 
After only collecting for about 9 months, I was able to get about 50-60. I then sold all of the ones I don't carry or find beautiful. I am now down to maybe 20, and about 7 of those I rotate in my EDC. As a jobless 18 y/o student, I purchased a lot of sub-$50 knives, and realized that it's dumb to buy 30 cheap knives because I can't afford a good one. The most expensive knife I own cost me about $290, which is a ZT 0301 with a Bullet Beadz lock bar stabilizer. I need a vehicle, but I also need a Fluted Ti-Military :D
 
Lots of really nice ones. And most of them will be gone by Xmas to three sons, two male sons-in-law, and four gd-children. Gonna hurt. Wouldn't believe how many guns I had to sell to finance this. Hope I don't regret it. Been fun shopping for them, however; got my kicks that way.

If you are using excel, why do you not have the spreadsheet total out your values for you? It's as easy as highlight, and then hit sum.
 
I only have 10. 3 customs-3 EDC and a few odd balls. I am a user--not a collector.

I think he meant looking at the sum of the values (i.e. total money you've spent on knives) is what will make you cringe.

I don't think I can justify getting any more. Plus I've been debating about selling my 560 when it comes back, but I'm not sure about that yet.

lol I'm on the same boat... as I have multiple hobbies, I try not to get obsessed with one thing. For me:

Benchmade mini grip (edc)
Ka Bar USMC (made exception, must-have knife)
TOPS Dawn Warrior (bushcraft/survival knife)
Mora Companion Carbon
American Angler bait knife (chills in tackle box)
