  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

How many of you actually use the clip?

I love the clip, but I will admit that the feel of a clip-less spyderco is very satisfying. Especially the stainless models; it's surprising how much the clip adds to the knife.

i always use my clip on my manix. BUT remember it scratches if you rub against stuff with it (ie car door...5 times..., leather recliner ) so becareful!

The clip is integral to the function of the E4Wave. This makes it particularly aggravating that the clip on mine snapped off as I got out of my truck one day last week. and they are out of this clip at the SFO right now. If anyone has removed the clip from an Endura 4 (the clip with a hole over the pivot or lanyard hole) I could definitely use it!!

I like that the clip keeps the knife where I put it. It's convenient to reach for the knife in a predictable place; pull it out; open it; use it; put it back in its spot.

If the knife came with a clip, it stays on and gets used. I don't even buy knives without clips anymore.

The only clip knife I use sans clip is my Kopa. The scales and clip are so smooth that it takes very little force to pull it out of my pocket, and I've almost lost it a few times when my Maxpedition Fatboy has hooked it out for me. The Kopa now rides in-pocket.

When I had my old Delica with the FRN clip, I wished that I could take it off. Now that I have bought a few more knives with the clip, I use the clip almost all the time. The knife is always there when you need it and it gives you more room in your pocket for other stuff too.

On dress pants, I usually clip inside the waistband (especially the 80 mm Manix). On jeans, it's on the pocket. Keeps the knife away from the odd assortment of coins, keys, lint, etc. A great idea that's here to stay.

Don't have a folder without the pocket clip, matter of fact that is a requirement for all folders I purchase.

I can understand how some people do not carry for the clip and nothing wrong with that that so ever.

I never had a knife with a clip until getting into Spydies. I grew up a slipjoint guy. However, when not at work, I use the clip high in my pocket. It's just more comfortable and more secure. I can't tell you how many knives have slipped out of my pocket onto the couch, etc. For example, my new Fallkniven U2 WILL have a lanyard just to provide some traction in my pocket.

Now, when I am at work, a clip is a no-go. I'm in an office and am not about to advertise that I carry even a small bladed knife. Big corporations don't see a problem with chef's having knives or maintenance guys having knives, but a desk jockey just doesn't need one in their opinion.

Also, I agree with the others who have mentions that the clip helps to open the blade. My fingers naturally find the edge of the clip for extra leverage when thumbing.
