How to make a custom knife.. You have never seen a video like this.. I promise..

Interesting indeed. I don't get why using angled steel blocks for grinding properly wouldn't make a "hand made" knive ? Isn't it just another tool ? Nobody's supposed to make knives only with hands to name it "handmade" I guess...

"There's a lot of things you'd rather see than a grown man with gold teeth shaving."

Lol. Great video, thanks for sharing it.

I think he was making a distinction between 'hand ground' or 'freehand' and 'hand made'.

I didn't have time to watch that whole thing, but sure am glad I did anyway. :)
Thanks for the great video, Mike!

Mike, I gotta say it, I'm not a fan of your style of marketing and such. But one thing you will never hear me say is that you make shoddy knives. I respect your work and hard earned success.

Haters gonna hate, players gonna get paid.

Props bro.

Thanks Big Guy.
I really appreciate you taking time to share your thoughts.
Your view as well as your viewpoint are very important.
The goal on any video is to go viral and break 20,000 views the first week.
We received over 25,000 views on this video in less than 3 days, thanks for helping to make that happen.
Huge Respect from Texas.

Excellent vid Mike!
Went to the Cali Custom Show, and got to molest one of your blades, it was supreme!
When do I come to Texas?

Great work Mike! You did a fantastic job on the knife and video! Thanks for sharing it with us.

I was all ready to give you grief about saying that you weren't grinding "by hand" until you clarified that you meant FREE hand. Those "cheater" plates seem to do the trick and that's what counts, right?:D

Great video!!

Just checked out your website as well and the Boss knife is a great price going to be ordering one of them for sure!

This is how you make forty-eight minutes seem like four minutes. I really enjoyed it and appreciate the effort of making it and posting it. I always wondered how most makers ground their blades and made jigs to do so. I have only had the fortune of working and learning from one knifemaker(Ray Ennis aka Entrek knives) and he is a master at free hand grinding. He makes it look to easy. As far as style goes I could care less as long as the maker isn't a crook and makes a good product. More power to you. If everybody was the same life would suck! Take care and thanks again!

That video answered soooo many questions that I had in regards to making knives............really appreciate the time and effort you put into sharing with us.

I don't make knives (as yet), but I have been handloading my personal carry and hunting ammo for some 4 decades. I see real similarities with how you approach knife making and how I handload. Repeatability of exact specifications and procedures get's results that not doing so can't come close to producing. I buy powders sometimes in bulk quantity up to 100 lbs (.223 powder for varmints...) and each pound or container of that 100 lbs. is of the same lot #. I purchase brass, primers and bullets in the same manner. When producing ammo, I use exact measurements and seating depths and such that have proven over the years to produce exceptional results. Consistency, as you said, is what separates a great product from so many of the run of the mill products.

Thanks again for the great video and for your candid remarks throughout.

Great Post and I appreciate you taking time to contribute.

When I started making knives 16 years ago there was a tremendous amount of mis-information being spread.
The goal of the mis-information campaign was to make it as difficult as possible for new knifemakers to gain a foothold.

There are still many accomplished makers who spread mis-information because they lack confidence in their ability to compete on a level playing field.
Some makers look to the past for inspiration, I choose to look to the future for my inspiration..
Some makers talk about "the good old days" and wish they could go back in time.. We talk about the future, no rear view mirror in Texas.
On one side of the coin you have guys like Ken O, Kit C, Bob T and RJ who approach the art from a scientific standpoint and share information freely with the intent of furthering the craft.
If you want to know about the guys on the "other side of the coin" just search some my old threads and look at the haters who have tried repeatedly to silence my campaign of truth.

I could never understand a knifemaker publicly attacking another knifemaker. It equals Political Suicide. Straight Flat Earth Society.

We have over 100 hours of professional video that we will be releasing weekly, including folder making, working with damascus, heat treating specifics, ghetto girls grinding, making a knife with no tools, etc, etc, etc.

We have been approached by seven (7) major production companies and recently signed a deal for a Prime Time Major Network Knifemaker Reality Show.
I am under non disclosure or I would share more information. Suffice to say we are Extremely Excited about the Future.
Thanks for your support. Every View is Important..
Much Respect from Texas.

Mike, I'm really excited to see that you've been having so much success lately. I've really been wanting to get into making knives lately, and keep coming up with excuses in my head not to do so. This video has absolutely changed my mind, and I wanted to get started as soon as possible. Showing your jigs is both stunningly honest and incredibly helpful. I'll definitely be picking up a Boss or Kitchen Boss soon for sure! :)

As a side note, anyone else slightly curious about Mike's work in Russia? That was a pretty casual bombshell.
