How/where do you carry your slipjoints?

I'm not as concerned about scratches as I am that slipjoints seem to slipoutofpockret. KSF pouch for me!
The only way that could happen is either standing on your head or getting dressed in a dark closet... uh...

Never mind. ;)

I've had my SAK slip out of my pocket on a couch, in a car, and... For the examples you mentioned, I admit nothing.

For my large knives (4in+), I like to carry in my KSF in my front pocket. 3.5 inchers go in the watch pocket, 2.5 inchers ride at the bottom of the pocket, unless I carry anything else in that pocket. Then it goes in my GEC sheath.

I can see your point but......If you want to carry a pocket knife, I assume it is because you might need to use it, in which case it is probably going to get scratched and worn. If you don't want it scratched or worn I wouldn't carry it , I would carry something I'm not going to worry about unless your sole purpose of carrying it is to show it off to others.

Robert - about the only place I show my knives is in pictures here in this forum. I think you might have misunderstood me and just wanted to clarify that I do not carry any knife that I am afraid to use to cut something, however, I do not like to get the bone or wood handles and bolsters all scarred up by coins and keys. I never have liked that look - I never will. I would be willing to wager a bet that around 50 percent or so of the other folks here feel the same way as me and maybe the other 50 percent your way, which makes you right and makes me right. My main point was that however you feel about it, you are probably not going to change, regardless and that there is no wrong way - just the way you like it. :D:D:D

That used to happen to me pretty often until I made some changes. ;)

Swiss Army Classic: right front pocket.
Couteau-du-Jour (y'all, that's French for EDC): watch pocket or (sometimes) right hip pocket.

I just picked up this Universal PocketSlip from KSF for old-timey carry. The pouch is perfectly-sized for my wide-bladed GEC #72 wharnie, and carries comfortably in my left rear pocket.

I recently discovered this sub forum and have really enjoyed it. Given all the modern tactical folders, I thought I was one of the few left that still enjoyed a good old fashioned pocket knife. Does anyone else besides me just throw their traditional in their pocket with their keys, change, etc? My daily carry 503 sure takes a beating that way, but I suppose it gives the knife some character. I usually can't devote a pocket to a knife just by itself to protect it from scratches, dings, etc. as I often carry other junk in my pockets for work (or sometimes pocket carry a revolver while away from work). I tried a leather slip cover for a little while, but it just didn't seem practical for me. Thanks again for such a great sub forum, and thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I am also one to throw most my knives into my pocket with everything else.

With that said I do have a select few that I will carry in a leather slip sheath to protect them from my keys. But they are the exception and not the rule.

Really good thread on that here:

I tried a pocket slip and it's a nice option, but I'm back to just dropping it in my pocket, usually along with a chambray pocket square to keep it in place and because it's handy to have too. I don't carry much in my pockets so I have no problem devoting a pocket to just my knife (left front). If I did then I would carry a less expensive knife and just toss it in with my keys probably.

In the pocket with keys and change. It's just a little surface wear. A few dings and scratches don't hurt anything.

The chinos I like to wear have this little coin pouch sewn inside their front right pocket, most of my knives go right into there when I carry them.

Although, lately I have really been wondering about having a small, slim leather pocket slip made up, just to minimize wear and tear from keys and other pocket eaters. Sadly, most slips I've come across online so far have been a bit too large for what I tend to pocket, they sure are handsome though.

Every time this question gets asked, I always say: in my pocket. That's it. Pretty basic guy right here.

For me the right front pocket carries a 4"or so stockman/cattle knife and nothing else, for the last few years it's been one of the GE #53 Cubans or a Schrade in stag, bone, or wood covers. That changes up a bit, as I own a few, but it's usually my favorite #53 in genuine stag.

Watch pocket carries a GE #62 courthouse whittler in stag, IMO probably their best build to date.

Left front pocket carries whatever else I have (coins, etc) and the inexpensive KOTD beater (knife of the day) in synthetic (delrin/acrylic or similar) if I carry another at all. Which I usually do.

Good thing I wear a belt to which I clip a spring-loaded keychain yoyo doo-dad that holds my various keys and fobs I need to do my job in order to finance my addiction.

I wonder: Does anyone offer a 12-step programs for slipjoints?
