How/where do you carry your slipjoints?

I used to. It sure is hard on knives. I've figured out how to not do that. I devote my left pocket to my Traditional Carry of the day with a handkerchief. If I'm wearing jeans, a nut goes in my watch pocket.

I carry a bunch in my other pockets.... keys go on the belt loop or in my right rear pocket with a revolver reload. Revolver goes in front right pocket. Wallet in left rear. Cargo pants open the options. I always have a shirt with a pocket for my phone. I also carry a backpack for all kinds of stuff..... it stays by the bed, in the office, or car most of the time, but I keep it near by for tools, lights, lighter, paracord, first aid stuff..... and my work computer when needed.

Revolver goes in front right pocket.

Woodrow - All sounded just fine - good sound advice you gave sir - all very consistent with the Woodrow Call we all know.

But, please sir - you need to remember that Woodrow Call had no work computer and that might confuse some of us "hillbillies".

With your user name and that avatar of yours - you clearly have an "image" to maintain. :D;):D

We already have a current thread on this topic. I think we only need one, so I am going to merge therm.

Lulz. I was just trying to demonstrate that even with a bunch of pocket space taken up, I find a empty pocket to put my Traditional in........ I'm just glad it's a Colt Army 1860 in my pocket and not Gus's 1847 Walker Colt! ;)

Wow, and I thought I was a relic for using my '87 Marlin 32/20 lever action! Beat me by almost 30 years!

My traditional knife goes in my left front pocket with the keys, nail clippers, coins and whatever else I collect during the course of the day. (Like Woodrow, right front pocket is for the handgun.) I don't mind my knives showing the honorable scars of age and use. Character, you know.

I try to keep my back pockets empty. My front left pocket is for my cell phone (nothing else goes with it to avoid scratching the screen). This leaves my front right pocket for my keys & wallet. The knife either goes in my watch pocket (if wearing jeans) or in the little coin pocket that is usually sewn into the front right pocket in other pants. I haven't gotten used it it, but I might carry nicer knives in a AG Russell pouch which is the smallest & lightest holder I've found for a 3.5" slip joint.

I vary this somewhat because sometimes I keep the wallet in the back right with keys in the watch pocket or inner coin pocket. This frees up the front right for a nicer knife without a pouch.

Watch pocket with jeans. Right front pocket with nothing else in pocket (PM2 or similar clipped) if shorts or pants. Keys and iPhone in left front pocket. Don't want to scratch my knife!

I use one of these Case belt pouches and my 6318 Stockman, Texas Jack, Schrade 194OT fit just fine. Vert secure and snug fit.

TC14 in a small CK Slip in the right front pocket next to my phone, SAK Executive hanging on a suspension clip in the left front pocket, Peanut and Maratac AAA in the coin pocket. Everyday.

Like this. Resurrected this old sheath pattern of my grandfathers. Hadn't built one in ten years or so. Gave this to my future daughter in law. Soft milled horsehide.

loose in my pocket. If it has a bail, I'll put a lanyard (not a fob) on, before it goes into my pocket.

In my watch pocket. I like my traditionals on the smaller side (3.25" and under) so they fit all the way inside. I find that it's important that a watch-pocket carried item fit fully below the hem of the pocket so it doesn't slide out.

Having it there gives me easy access too, no need to dig around in the main pocket with my keys, leatherman, change, and whatever else I might have.

Dave ,

Could you show some more pics of that sheath and its design ?

I carry my most treasured knife on special occasions in this slip and it is chained to my belt or belt loop so it can never be lost .

But the most carried Traditional in my selection is this SAK Cadet that gets clipped into my front left pocket everyday at work .

How I carry a traditional depends on the size, weight, and thickness.

Anything under 4.25" closed length tend to be in my right front pocket although I sometimes use a leather slip for the larger ones or ones I want to protect from coins and stuff. Things larger get carried in a belt sheath if I have one to fit the knife.
