At different times I've purchased a Crucarta, a Maxamet, and a K390 PM2 in the hopes of convincing myself I could make it work.Over 7’ tall! The PM2 must feel like the delica does to me lol
I’m just getting to know the Malibu but love its understated execution. It works great, is precise and has an extra capable and versatile blade, perfect for me. It’s work ready and solid as a rock when deployed. I love my Damasteel WE Snick as it is as pretty as it it capable. Blade shape makes me quote, “now THAT’S a knife” lol! The WE Charith is an elegant and refined example and limited edition as well, CRK Magnacut small Sebenza works great and is an heirloom choice, the Leek comes out to the garden with me for yard duty……..At different times I've purchased a Crucarta, a Maxamet, and a K390 PM2 in the hopes of convincing myself I could make it work.
I couldn't.
Also, I picked up a Delica for a friend's birthday a few years back. After he opened it, I grabbed it to see what all the fuss was about. That is a SMALL knife! Haha!
So OP, you've been on a knife-buying tear lately. Do you have an established favorite?
Breakfree CLP is what I use for all my knives and firearms that are not stainless. It is military spec and we used them when the army was involved in a little SE Asia conflict back in the 1960's/'70's.PS are you guys adding a few drops of CLP to your non-stainless blades after use?
Cruwear, z-wear, magnacut, M4, 4v..... you can't really go wrong with any of them. My preference is magnacut for the stainless qualities. However, I've been more than happy with all these steels.Great answer, gets me thinking! Everyone seems to be gaga about Cruwear! I see why when I hear Dr. Thomas discuss powdered metallurgy steels! He’s a very bright young man! Maybe…….maybe Cruwear!
I agree. Paramilitary 2 is my favorite model. I wish they made one with a 4 inch blade!PM2 all the way. It’s kind of mid-size, very slicey geometry, and they make one in tons of different steels. I recently picked up a SMKW M4/CF PM2. It was very rough when I got it (not the norm for a Spyderco), but it is breaking in very nicely. I’ve been loving the M4 so far, it likes to tear through cardboard like nothin. View attachment 2149761
Also, now that this is breaking in, it is by far the easiest PM2 to reverse-flick I’ve owned (out of about 5). The break-away of the detent is set perfectly for that.![]()
Thanks for the input, soldier. Thank you for the service you gave to the US and the free world. I enjoy a great life in the The Land Of The Free. I can second that, I got a Sage 5 LW in S30V about 4 months ago and its been the only knife I've carried in my pocket since then - even for my large hands it fits comfortably in a lot of different grips and the blade shape is just phenomenally allround-y ^^Sage 5 would be my choice.

Check out the Stretch 2, in Cruwear. It’s a bit pricey, but it looks nice…it’s a lockback however so I’m still on the fence about that one…..they’re making the OG military w/a comp lock now too, but the blade on those is angled down a lot from the handle, it looks too weird to me lolI agree. One of each, please.Check out the Stretch 2, in Cruwear. The combination of a relatively stern facial expression with a bright and colourful sun decoration on the wall behind you; that made me smile.
Hey, I am glad I was here when this reply came in. All good things to think about. There are several models that have got my attention and there are grades of steel that I have yet to try including K390. So many knives, so little time!Edit: Oh, I see I'm kind of late for the party...
Anyway, below is my post that I wrote after rereading only the 1st page of the OP...

Welcome to the Forums !
Spyderco's are awesome knives. My offers for considerations are:
If you are looking for a user with good steel:
1. Manix 2 in whatever steel flavor you like it, my choice would be the BBB release with the special hardening protocol for 15V.
If not this one, I'd personally try to find either the old model with Saber grind or the laminate blade version.
Both fairly rare knives, slap an aftermarket scales and they will become unique and personalized.
2. Para 3 in S45Vn with some aftermarket scales. If you like slightly larger knife, and I think, more presentable - PM2.
Other than that, there is a plethora of great Spydrco models, some already mentioned above.
3. I like a lot the Stretch 2, but I'm not familiar if they have it in better steel than VG10,
which is also awesome steel that takes very sharp edge, but don't really goes for High-End.
Still you will hardly ever see a rust on it.
This is the Stretch 2 model I have in mind, IMO excellent ergonomics, very close as design to the Gail Bradley 1,
good size, easy to carry. I'd also would pick aftermarket scales for it, they are plenty.
Nothing wrong with the original scales but in my case, aftermarkets are looking better and gives me better,
slightly rounder, therefor more comfortable grip.
Good luck, I'll be curios about you choice
