i bought it at walmart today

Thanx Axlis, appreciate the support and comments.

Hi Cosine,

sorry, don't know what stores they're testing.

Sorry Chaser. I guess if the test is successful, you'll see them in more locations.

sal

Same here. I alredy have one but still looking. Lucky, the guy looked and saw one. Most of them have no idea what it is!! Spyderwhat??

Any luck in the east side of greater Los Angeles? I struck out calling about 8 stores, visiting 2.

I just got one in Orange City, FL. This is my first FRN Spyderco, and I love it! My CUDA EDC has just been replaced by it for my small edc knife. My large edc is a Lum Tanto G10, PE VG10 folder.

Hi...new to this forum.................because, I just got back from wal-mart with my new Spyderco Native......what a deal! S30V steel and great package. I was actually shocked to see them there.....took a look and snagged it.......Never thought about getting a Spyderco,,,but it really is a great knife, tight snap into the locked position, no sideways movement, great feel in the hand....a perfect EDC. To be honest I was saving my cash for a Swamp Rat....rat trap, but am now in love with this Native....i just can't put it down. Run to Wal- Mart....these are great knives. John:D

Walmart is an evil company that pays and treats its employees poorly. This is fact. Please don't shop there at any price.

Thanks :)

I can't agree with you more... but so are most other large corporate entities.

I'm not trying to be the "Walmart Patron Saint" here, but a lot of you guys act like Walmart is the only place seething with corporate greed and under pays their employees. Corporate ethics is the problem here, be it Walmart, Target, Shaw Industries, McDonalds, all the same....
There are a few good ones out there, but too few and far between.

Oh there are plenty of other "Evil" corporations. I'll be honest WalMart concerns Me most because it directly effects my industry. I worry every contract How My company will compete with one that pays its employees less then half what I make with no benefits, pension etc. We need to be able to live,We can't all be Rocket Scientists and Doctors. Walmart could treat its employees a whole lot better and still make a ton of money.

I think it also just makes spyderco come off as a cheaper knife. Heck I wouldnt want them at my store either. LOL Just waiting to show someone one of My spydies and have them go "walmart sells those" :(

We should stop talking about this. Walmart,Religion, and Politics. All sure to start a fight :)

You know off topic,I'm watching Conan the Destroyer and wow Olivia d'Abo Sure was beautiful :) She still is really.

My wife got one to use as a beater around the house. She even knew the display #, 60, when asking for it. She was definitely more clued in then the guy working the counter at Wal-Mart. She bought it for "me" but she's been carrying it and using it since she got home. :D Which is fine, I just got an R2 and mini-Persian over Christmas. There's a Centofante 4 & D'Allara Rescue in the mail on the way too. I need to lay off the knives until the Kris is released! Well that and the new waved Delica 4 & the ZDP Delica 4. ;)

For $40 I see it as getting a great deal on a US made knife. Cutting edge USA steel (S30V), great ergonomics, solid handle construction & a very reliable, strong locking mechanism. Your also helping a US retail company (Wal-Mart management & employees), US knifemaker (Spyderco), US knifemakers (Spyderco's employees), US logistic companies (truckers, warehouse workers) and a US Steel company (Crucible in my fine homestate of PA).

I haven't shopped in "China-Mart" in many, many years due to their high volume of made in China goods. I refuse to aid the economy of a country diametrically opposed to the interests of my country. If Wal-Mart is starting to change their product line to more made in the US and by other allies (Poland, Japan, India, etc.) products, I may change my shopping habits.

It looks like this was a great move Mr. Glesser. It seems to be turning on a whole new group of people to Spydero's. And I'm sure that they will eventually start moving up the ladder to finer Spyderco's.

True, but dont you think the employees are to blame too? Here's an idea, if you dont like what your employer is giving you, dont work there. Or better yet, stand up for yourselves.

Sorry but if youre too dumb to realize that your being kicked over and over, you kind of deserve it.

The walmart I bought mine at had just gotten them in and the employee let me check every one for any bladeplay etc. and i got a real tight one. Now i wanna nother one and their all sold out. On sunday they never heard of them-on tuesday they had a new cardboard sign and all so you gotta keep pressing on in that search!

Hi guys, I'm new to the forums and I live in Wichita Falls, Tx. For those of you that live in Texas looking for natives, I thought I would tell y'all that they have plenty of them at the Wichita Falls Wal-Mart on Lawrence Rd. I bought one today and handled several of them before I bought. The clerk said they had 14 of them and more on the way. I didn't check at our other location in town but I will sometime this week and report back.

Say Sal, I've got another question. How long is this testing period supposed to last? And if it is deemed successful, will they be sending Natives to Wal-Mart stores in more areas of the country?

Judging by the employees I see at Wal-mart, I think they are overpaid. Of the 10 walmarts I have now called searching for the native, I think 7 of them were incompetent. The worst was when the guy picked up the phone and said, "Hello?," in a really impatient tone. Sorry, that wasn't the worst. The worst were the two middle aged lady employees walking down the aisle laughing and chatting with each other in a foreign language. I said, "Excuse me..." a couple times and they walked right on by me ignoring me completely. Nationality of the employees left out. You do get what you pay for. Or less, IMO, in this case. These employees were worthless.

Here's to hoping the Natives come to SoCal! It's US made, though I'm Chinese and couldn't care less if something were made in China, as long as it's good quality.

By the way, #60 does NOT work at the stores that don't have the Native. It's either a Buck or a Gerber multitool, I forget.

I worry only about the price going up before I buy enough. By the way, how many are enough? ;)

For what it is worth........Our government is and has been (since the clinton era) giving lucrative tax incentives to american companies to have merchandise made in china. It is the way of the new world. Not that I agree but our government has a plan. When you have money you have a voice. When you have a voice you begin to have a say in what your governement does........as in america. I could go on and on but you get the point. This is why almost everything you see anymore has china written all over it. Companies would be foolish not to take advantage of the tax incentives.
