More good news.... www.walmart.com has Delicas in FRN and SS listed on their site.
Just type SPYDERCO in their search box.

Mr. Dye,

I am a Dye-hard NGK fan and a reliable customer. I have spent well over a thousand dollars on Spyderco products from NGK in the past year. I spent $40 a Native from Walmart.

I am sorry, but your post just sounds like sour grapes. Kristi has addressed this issue elsewhere. She said Walmart must be obtaining Delicas through a distributor as they are not getting them directly through Spyderco. They are offering them at a higher price than your prices. I have seen no reports of Delicas being sold in any Walmart stores. I understand your fears about that becoming a reality if the future. I cannot imagine they will ever carry the full Spyderco line. I cannot imagine them ever carrying higher end models. I do not know what models are your top sellers.

I am sure my local B&M dealer would prefer to have my purchases but they cannot compete with your prices and selection. Your service is excellent! Keep up the good work. I don't think you have anything to worry about. The Walmart Native may actually end up increasing your sales.

No sour grapes. A walk-in customer pointed this out to me.
I hope/think we have a pretty good relationship with Spyderco and our customers. While several dealers have expressed concern to me about this, I understand where Spyderco is coming from and have no ill will concerning the decision. Thanks for the good words and your continued support.
Regards, Mike

Mike,

After reading the exchange, it seems to me that Sypderknut misinterpreted your post about "...good news...". I took your post to mean that Spyderco was gaining wider acceptance (good news), rather than the fact that Walmart was selling one or two models of the Spyderco line.

Spyderknut, and Mike -- I can't read either of your minds, but it seems to me that NGK will continue to grow its popularity among the online knife nuts :D , and if Spyderco can grow its business at Walmart, then that's also good.

OK, let's sit around the fire and sing Kumbaya

Just kidding...:D I just meant that it seems like we're all Spyderco fans here, so let's leave it at that.

edb, thanks. It is difficult to tell what one is thinking in a post.
I doubt WalMart is going to invest the time, money and energy to be a full line dealer for any knife company. Plus, customer service will be spotty I would expect.
Exposure for premium knife lines at a WM will likely foster more interest in those lines.
As many know, we are a pharmacy. We have a WM about a mile from us. While I do not support WM (hello!, my wife and teenage girls do THAT), WM does keep me on my toes to provide the best patient care I can. Competition in the knife industry is no different.
I feel comfortable that Spyderco will not leave their dedicated dealer base out to dry.
Regards, Mike

Mr. Dye, I apologize if I misunderstood your post. I hope to visit your pharmacy one of these days!

I have a different prospective to offer. After reading all the rave reviews here about the SALTS, I had to have one, no, let me rephrase that, three! I visited Spyderco's web site in a attempt to locate a LOCAL retail merchant. There was only one listed in the two State area in which I reside. I visited them (should have called first), no Spydercos in stock!

I then e-mailed Spyderco, requesting assistance in locating a LOCAL RETAILER, no luck from corporate headquarters either. I ended up ordering the three on line, 2 SALT 1s, and one Pacific SALT, all PE in yellow.

I'd prefer to patronize my local retailer whenever possible, unfortunately in my case, it's often difficult to do.

I'll be checking local WMs for another knife I don't really need after reading this thread!:)

Spyderknut, no problem here. Posts are difficult to understand..no intonation (except for the emotioncons). If you roll up I-77 we are about 15minutes to the west...just let us know you are coming...we'll leave the lights on (or sumthin' like that.

im still waiting to find a walmart that has them in the dallas area
Two of my local Walmarts did not have it, but one of them special order it for me. You have to provide them bar code from the box. you can find it on Spyderco forum, or e-mail to me. I will scan mine and send it back to you.

Picked up mine at the SuperWM in Beaumont, Texas on Friday. This is the first Spydie I've actually bought, my other one I found (a Delica) while walking the dog several years back. I look forward to using this one for many years too.

Dear Spyderco Official,

Back when Walmart first started carrying the knife I saw a message at the Candlepower Forum about it. I ran out to Walmart and got one.

I am very pleased. However, I wish to pick one small nit. The hole in the blade felt rough to my finger and showed uneven and unsightly machine marks in the hole.

I solved the problem by lightly boring out the hole on my drill press and then chamfering the hole on both sides with a cone shaped stone.

Overall fit and finish was fine. Lockup is fine. A little improvement on the machine work at the hole would have been a little better.

Thank you for your attention, Steve

No fair! None of the 4 Walmarts in the Houston area I have looked in have the Native. I even looked when I was near Livingston while traveling-no luck there either. I give up
