I just got my SOG Pillar in, and boy am I disappointed. What a letdown.

That's probably the worst part of all of this - and I say this as someone who owns exactly zero SOG knives - the casual reader comes to a thread like this (through a Google search, etc) and the manufacturer's name has been drug through the mud with exactly ZILCH for proof. Ah the internet, gotta love it!
 
Honestly I feel bad for Cold Steel, I am sure they make quality products but the OPā€™s devotion to the brand combined with his dubious character has left CS with a snake oil type marketing campaign not of their own making.

Based off the OPs reputation I think I will try a SOG.

Sorry but I think you all are getting a little too worked up over the OPā€™s hit and run Cold Steel posts. It isnā€™t that big a deal. Personally I think itā€™s entertaining that a few sentences from him leads to several pages of angry responses. Just ignore the guy and move on. Maybe heā€™s legit and loses interest fast, maybe heā€™s a troll. Why get so worked up?

And that is one thing we as knife community must do: call out misinformation from trolls and their defenders. This isn't facebook or instagram. We have a higher standard. If he keeps posting, we'er going to keep asking for proof.

Not a single one of us is above reproach or perfect in our knife knowledge. This isnā€™t a gang wherein we ostracize those a little different or that have interests that differ from ours. Let us be open-minded and respectful in our efforts to inform, rather than alienating people that might be new, lacking knowledge, or a little quirky in their delivery. Youā€™re right, this isnā€™t Facebook or instagramā€¦ so letā€™s not stoop to that level. we are better than that.

Not worked up. In the end this merely a discussion board about knives
 
Iā€™m quickly finding out that a forum is quite possibly the worst medium to try to have a disagreement or discussion. Things get so nasty and so negative in a blink.

What you failed to comprehend is the fact that I specifically replied to post from someone making a point regarding the ease of replacing batteries and comparing that to receiving a dull knife. Itā€™s a conversation within a conversation and it appears it has you very worked up. Itā€™s ok man, take a breath, itā€™s just a knife forum. Did I or did I not reply specifically to someone post directly with a polite disagreement? If you wonā€™t answer this question , I will not respond any further.

Only with some people. When it is clear that someone is only here to argue, my advice is to not respond to them no matter how many times they quote you. Unless they are spreading misinformation, no need to respond at all. You could even put them on ignore and they disappear from the forum for you altogether.
