Oh, and my chopper Beckers are at 22 degrees, my midrange Beckers and Esees are at 19 degree, and my little guys are at 17 degree. The one thing about the KME is it doesn't go lower than 17. My 11 I wanted to take to 25 inclusive.

Is there an easy way to check the angle of a knife without buying a fancy angle guided sharpening system? Should I just get cardboard and cut notches with a protractor? I use sandpaper and a mouse pad so I've got no clue what the angles are.

Hm, it's interesting to see what other people have their angles at.
I'll get my ESEE 3 at 17 to try it out.
I mostly use it for final prep with wood and such.
I love 20 degrees since it's such a great balance.
I did however for shiggles put my paring knife at 15 and it was stupid shar p lol.
Yawn I could make this a side business, charge decent prices and if there's a market for it I'll buy the subscription for it to offer my services to the wonderful guys on the forums.

On the topic of the Chopping contest, Psy Murdered that freaking log ...lol That was impressive as hell imho.

I'd bet your angle is somewhere around 180 degrees. LOL! Using sandpaper and mouse pad I believe is one of the best ways to convex a blade.

Yes, most are convexed. Still curious what the angle would be if you took the slope using the shoulder and the uh... Front part of the edge(?).

Cause he wasn't there. If he was there would have been someone there with a sign around their neck that said they were Thorny...

Good point! Then how would he know Psy did good in the log chopping? The video was rigged to make you think he did good, but the log was really only 1.5" in diameter where he was cutting....;)

4 hours left in the drive
3 hours of sleep last night,
2 pots of coffee today
1 Jarebear driving
And a partridge in a pear tree!

Read WW's post again and the subsequent one about how it's open to anyone who posts in snark regularly enough. He knows who we are. Stop being such post horus....good lord, I step out of the house for an hour and you guys blather through 3 pages! It's not a contest of inanity......or post counts. "No can defend!" There actually used to be some damn snark in the snark thread. There better start being some seriously good BS-ing in here, or I'll start skimming, by (insert your chosen deity here)! Blah, blah, blah, blade angle, blah blah blah has it's own sub on BF. Use it. @dynamicmoves: are you happy with your blades' performance? If so (I assume this to be true), I would posit that it does not matter what the angle is.

Man I wish I could think of some good snark. You guys (and you know who you are) need to put a little more quality and a LOT less quantity into your efforts.....to make up for guys like me.
