I m new fan of Buck knifes.

It was 8x57 and used for Silhouettes, military open sights at Ft Bliss and around SW Texas.I sold it and like so many others could kick myself. Lol,time to go to work.

i shoot Sellier and Bellot ammo alot for practice. its good ammo and very affordable here in the states. do you use the Wolf brand ammo? i believe its made in Russia, but it seems to be a very "dirty" brand that leaves alot of grime in my guns when im done shooting. i spend most of my time shooting .22 long rifle for fun, but most of my handguns are 9mm luger, .38 special, and .45 acp. most my rifles are 223 (5.56 NATO), 30-06, and .308s(7.62 x 51 NATO)

I shot Silhouettes for years at Butterfield Trail range using a 30-06 made in 1943 a Rem. 1903A3 action and original 2 groove barrel . I reworked the bolt in order to mount the scope and drilled and tapped it for scope rings . I still have it, as well as my Buck 107 with antler handle . Darn, that was fun ! DM

You are absolutely right.
Mark Wolf is in Russia not so qualitative.
These are the usual army cartridges simply packed for retail.
Thus they are the cheap.
But if you spend many cartridges in day it is possible to suffer, because it is cheap.
I do not use Wolf for my rifle , because I have "Novosib" cartridges for the same price but a lot qualitative.(As on photo is brown box).
It is snipers cartridges for shoting 300 metters and more.

Sellier and Bellot ammo are good.
I m using them for hunting.

Those are not stainless but should hold a great edge . I'd hate to grind that steel . DM

Thanks for your opinion.
I m not so love rusting steels too.
But on the other hand, has once ground also they long keep cutting edge, these steel have huge wear resistance.

Usually I use diamond stones and devices DMT and Lansky.
But I can sharpen on hands.
In addition I use ceramic stones Spyderco.

Garry, those $900 knives are way too expensive for me.

I could buy a lot of Buck knives for that kind of money.

:)

But I like that Sell&Bell ammo. I grab that brand whenever it's available for what I need.

I like the Italian stuff, too......Fiocchi, I think.

Yep Ya are right .(American variant of words)
I m agree with you. I m not so rich guy.

Yes, Fiocchi is not bad . I have used it in my chot-gun.
I have Benelli Army, model is Super Black Eagle II.
Super Magnum caliber 12 x 89 mm, I can shoot steel shot.
But usually I use lead pellets, 12x76 semi-magnum, high velocity.

That Benelli is one impressive shotgun.

I use Fiocchi and Sell&Bell in my 9mm......always perfect so far......good power, too.

As far as the more exotic steels go......I like BG42 and S30V just fine, but I find the old 440C on the older Buck knives (1980 and older) is just as good for all practical and reasonable purposes.

In fact, the new 420HC is going to be plenty good enough for the average user......not many do a lot of skinning anymore.

You are an exception in your hunting adventures.

Do you own land or lease land or hunt free of charge on public land?

In Russia there are all three kinds of the hunting grounds which you mention.

Each hunter pay annually payments, and has the membership card of a society of hunters.
This society has the lands or rents them.
There are also free lands where can all hunts with membership card.
But in this case it is necessary to buy the permit for one day, for two days, for a week, for a month or for a hunting season.

I hunt with my friends.
We pay the licence for a half-year, "has killed - has paid."
Has not killed - has not paid, it is possible to hunt another time.
We hunt on the lands belonging to our society.
We familiar for a long time with huntsmen of these lands, there we hold our dogs.

I m not sure to do new thread for this questions.

Those are not Buck knives Igor. They are Strider knives, semi-customs.
Years ago Strider Knives and Buck Knives made a business deal and Buck made some lower cost Strider designed knives.

Did you buy these?

Hello Mr. Gordon (my best doctor from the Buck fever)
How are you ?

Thanks for your explanations.

No, I didn t buy something under this link.
I m not such rich guy, there are very high prices of Strider.
But there are very interesting steels, from the point of view of wear resistance.
My friends do in Russia tests of steels on a rope, I can place a few information on a steel 420НС from the Buck in comparison with other steels.
If it is interesting and it is authorised here on Buck sub-forum.
