I remember why I stopped carrying SAK's

Nope, don't see it naturally occurring. Is the lanyard getting caught keeping the blade open? Split personality? Pocket trolls?

I have had it happen often on a certain. Benchmade but that was bc/ the studs got caught

If it has happened on numerous occasions then why keep it in your pocket? I have never had a knife open up more than once while in the pocket but if I did then I surely would not continue to carry it in the pocket. Too many "precious items" down there!!

Any chance that these aren't real Victorinox SAKs? I could see maybe a clone/counterfeit not having the same build quality as the real deal, but even then, its just hard to imagine a knife with a backspring opening in the pocket.

Unlike others here, I don't carry a SAK on my person every day (its in my cycling bag I bring to work though). But, like them, I've never had a SAK open accidentally. Nor have I heard of it happening before your thread.

I have had 2 SAKs with floppy blades. Both had broken springs, and Vicorinox fixed them both for free.

You have a weakened or damaged spring. Otherwise, a SAK will not open on you in the pocket. Now, a knife without a backspring, like my Opiniel #4, will open, as it also has no lock. I carry it but shouldn't.

So one day a needle junkie dope head walked into a bar. He says, "Trarbender, I need aknother nife. I cant get this one to work! Its always stabbing me when I go into my pocket for it.." Bartender looks up, sees the guy, says: "Imagine that."

True story!

Never had it happen. Try one more but maybe a cadet or Farmer size.

Only knife I've ever had that happen with is a Leek.

I'm callin' troll on this one.

40+ years of carryin' an SAK of many varieties from the classic to the Swisschamp and never had one accident Lyrica open with or without a lanyard.

My Saks often spontaneously explode open in my poket. But it is not just the blade it is all the tools at the same time. I remember the last time it happened clearly. A very pretty girl had just walked by me and boom the SAK opened up.

Chalk another up to the "not me". I've had various models of Victorinox in and out of my pocket since the 80's.
