Idaho Made

I know that this is going to get some people riled up, but I'm just going to go ahead and say it. I think that the reason many people don't like the "IDAHO MADE" engraving is because most people think that Idaho is a rather lame, boring state. That's one of the main reasons why I don't like the engraving, and I'm sure I'm not the only person here that feels that way.

I am in no way trying to offend people from the state of Idaho. I'm just being honest and realistic.

Idaho is a beautiful state.

Good one, but please tell me your kidding:p

Idaho is looked upon as one of our better states by almost all.

I grew up in Idaho and still have plenty of fond memories of my "original" home state.:D

Welcome to my ignore list Kuso.

I do not think that, I just think it's ugly. For one the font does not match the knives stylings at all, it's upside down and just really has a cluttered look to it. IMHO

At least I will now be able to grow my Spyderco collection :)

I have no problems with Idaho I just think the engraving takes away from the sterile tool look of the Sebenza which I love so much.

I totally agree -- Idaho's boring, the people there are backwards thinkers, the scenery's horrible, outdoor recreation is all but destroyed by the butchering state legislature, the devil worshipers and white supremists run rampant . . . and the Boise State Broncos don't deserve to be nationally ranked. I'd say, steer clear of the place. If you like the Northwest, move to WA, OR, MT, or UT. Way nicer places to live.

Totally agree!!!!! Thats the main reason I like the Seb over the Um is the fact that the handle is very plain and steril looking, the construction and classic lines of all Seb models speak for themselves.

:D ..... I don't blame you 'Fooj', I wouldn't want a bunch of "outsiders" moving in either if I lived in "paradise". ;)

Say Whattt...... I think you are probably thinking of Iowa ... Idaho is probably one of the most beautiful states there are. Go to the sawtooth mountains and then come back and tell us what you think.

You're right, brother Fooj. I totally never want to set foot there, or even plan a fly-fishing trip sometime next year to one of those bug-infested waterways flowing from those awful eye-sore mountain ranges.

From Heather in regards to my inquiry about ordering the other small seb...

"We do not offer any variation on the IDAHO MADE stamp – sorry."

I can't buy it. It's just, well, too ugly to put on such a nice knife.

It is also called expressing an opinion.

it is and I agree its everyone's right but what can anyone do about the stamp?

Nothing, no matter of any kind of opinion, poll, riot, protest can or will change anything. my opinion is I don't buy Chris Reeve Knives because of the look or what they do or don't say, I buy them because they work and work good and that is all I care about. everyone can scream and carry on all they want until they are blue in the face or have blisters on their fingers from typing. But in the end will that fix it..NOPE it will just take up time better spent on yard work or with the family. We are all here because we like Chris Reeve Knives for some reason or another. I collect the south African sheath knives, but that does not mean I am going to turn down a made in America shadow to me they are both great knives and much the same in "value". Both Chris and Anne know a lot about the knife business and I am sure they think about something before they do it or they would have not become this successful taking a hobby/business from a shop in the back yard in South Africa and becoming a million dollar business in America is no easy task. So I am sure they put the stamp on the knife for a reason and if no one wants to buy one with a stamp that's their choice it will just make my NON-Stamp knives "worth" more money. But to me they work the same and that's all I Care about. I think time can be better spent on talking about the positive aspects of Chris Reeve Knives

On the other hand, if Chris and Anne chose to have their own forum here it is maybe because they feel they can get some valuable feedback from their customer base. I doubt anyone at CRK could have anticipated this kind of outcry over that logo.

~~ valuable feedback from their customer base. ~~~
That brings a couple of questions to my mind.....

1. I wonder what percentage of the total CRK customer base is actually active on this forum?

2. I also wonder just how valuable most of the feedback that comes from this forum really is??

These are both serious thoughts/questions that really only CRK could answer. And if I were them, I wouldn't touch either with a 10 foot pole.... ;)

My thoughts would be as follows.

1. Small percentage.
2. Not very, in the big scheme of things.

While I agree that the large parge of the CRK customer base is not active, one could argue that the same sampling could be applied to the customer base as a whole.

On the other hand too, they could not care what we think and continue to do it the way they want to do it. It's suggested the new stamp oisn't going anywhere but everyone has an opinion so who knows.
