Idaho Made

I purchased a large LE with Camphor inlay.

The stamp looks hideous, it is orientated the wrong way and quite frankly looks cheap.

The new stamp really is a poor job and takes away from the rest of the knife. I won't be buying anymore knives with this stamp on it.
Ouch, I feel your pain.

If you haven't already put that [apparent from what you said] "piece of junk" up for sale I figure you must be about to.

I be honored if you'd PM me a price for the cheap looking thing. It must be truly "hideous" and a pain to even look at or think about.

So, price that baby according to how you have described it and I'll do what I can to relive you of the burden..... seriously. :)

A car is also a tool, but would you like it if your sports car of choice came with a painted "Made in X" down the hood?

Just being a tool doesn't mean it can't also look decent.

(BTW I'm not militantly anti-Idaho stamp. I just don't see the logic in tool=can't look good.)

"Made in X" down the hood no, but I bet your sports car has a semi-permanent decal/badge slapped on the back that says X X Pontiac, or X X Ford from the dealership that sold it. Check the license plate bracket.

You can remove those decals and badges.

You cannot remove the ugly IM stamp off the knife

I take those off but I will say that my Porsche 911 and Mercedes did not come with that crap all over it. They are very expensive and elegant cars andthwy know better.

So is it a fair assumption you wouldn't have bought either of those cars if they had? Or would the quality and performance have overidden the hideous appearance of the badging?

You'd think from the hue and cry that CRK had switched to 440A and FRN. To each their own.

Hey, I think I can/could grind that fowl prose off the titanium, then blast the whole slab again and all will be well. I use aluminum oxide to blast titanium and it finishes almost like the factory did it. Done it on mine many times.:D
So I MAY just buy another Sebenza?

The argument isn't parellel.
If the doors were stamped Stuttgart Made or German made with large hideous letters then two things would happen. Forst, I wouldn't buy it and two, people would say no S**T

Funny, I purchased a new car last year (Nissan) anyhow they had to get it from another dealer and ship it in. I stated a few times, I didnt want any dealer badging. Car arrives and my dealer sticks their sticker on it, I walked away from the deal and purchased elsewhere. (I even pulled the factory lettering, clean and simple works)

Like I told the dealer, a product I'm happy with I'll be the best salesperson I can be. I'll gladly tell people where I bought my car or knife and why I like it so much

bah- Just erased a big rant about this crappy thread.
Not sure what the big deal is..Some don't mind having crap that says "Made in Pakistan", some of the same people don't mind gracing the doors of Wal-mart, despite what that means for our economy.

Here is my thought.

Chris,
Thank you for continuing to make your knives in the United States. Thank you for being proud of the US, and the state in which you reside.
As a machinist, I am lucky to continue to have a job at this point as there is bloody little that is being made in the US compared to the industrial age that made this country flourish.

you can remove a license plate surround in about thirty seconds and it won't have an effect on the overall appearance of the automobile. you can ask the dealer not to put a decal on the rear of the vehicle. you can't remove this asstastic new stamp from one of CR's knives without making an alteration to the scale. if ordering an unbranded knife was an option then I doubt it would be a problem for most people.

Well I am one of the guys who posted that I would never buy a Sebenza with the IM stamp on it because I did not like the look of it.

I decided I was too quick to judge and actually bought one to check it out for myself. I purchased a large LE with Camphor inlay.

I WISH I HAD STUCK TO MY GUNS.

The stamp looks hideous, it is orientated the wrong way and quite frankly looks cheap. The Classic 2000 was much better IMO.

PICS PLEASE!!! I really want to see what that Camphor looks like outside. Can you take some pics outside with it? I would like to see the wood in the sun....

Did you change brands or just dealers?

Been waiting five years to buy a Sebenza...better hurry and find one without the new logo. Can't spend $330/385 with that new logo on it, no matter how good the knife!
