If you could only have one folder what would it be?

I assume with price not being an object...

Small sebenza 21 w/carbon fiber scale or a SAK Alox electrician

If it was only 1 knife, it would be either a DDC SnG or an MSC SnG with a Stellite blade!!

It's old, it's not expensive, it's not made of diamond-crusted unobtainium, just good old wood, brass, and steel.
Maybe that's why I could picture this being a knife I will like until my last breath.

In practical terms, I confront this situation anytime I travel, as I tend to only take one knife with me.

The knife I take has (for me) the best balance of handle and blade size. Small enough to be back pocket carried easily but big enough to fill my hand and big enough to handle 99% of the tasks I could ever throw at a folder.

The knife has the most robust joint of any knife I've ever used and seemingly entirely impervious to developing either lateral or vertical blade play.

The knife has the most reliable lock in that it works as designed even when entirely fouled by dirt and sand. (NOTE: the lock provides no meaningful protection against strong closing forces, which is fine.)

The knife is the safest knife to open and close of any folding knife I've ever used, as there is no spring mechanism and no activity in the blade. This helps when I'm tired and spent and still need to us my knife safely.

The knife has the most comfortable handle of any folder I've used, which is due, in part, to the ease with which the handle can be modified and customized. I flatten the sides of mine.

The knife produces the least amount of "social friction", allowing me to deploy and use it in just about any social context without concern.

Cost is of no object to me. I could easily spend 10 or 20 times what this knife costs.

The knife is the Opinel #9 Inox.

That would be incredible tough to pick just one. Hopefully I'm never in that position. These are 4 of my favorite EDC knives. I'm currently carrying the Benchmade but wouldn't want to part with any of them.

It would be a tough call between my SnG CC and a large Sebenza. I would likely choose the SnG CC-because I like the knife so much, but the Sebenza would actually be the better all around choice-I think???
Left with either one, I would do just fine.

Cold Steel Hold Out II CTS-XHP. Lightweight, strong, quality steel, slicey and stabby. Not too big nor too small. Does it all.

Pick one

Well, it would unquestionably be a 4-blade (or possibly 5-) camper/utility/scout knife.

I have a number of them: couple of Ulsters, a few Imperials (jigged, sawcut, and rosewood scales), two Diamond Edges, a Kamp King or two, a couple of Camillus MIL-K all-stainless jobs from various years, a Remington R-4, several SAKs (Wenger & Vic), and three Camillus U.S. Army engineer knives. For me, the blades or tools in this pattern meet my daily uses just about perfectly, especially when paired with a little Vic Classic.

In threads like this I usually show one of the USA engineer knives, but for variety this time it's an Ulster Scout from the $10 box at a knife show. (The other scale has faded to a light brown or tan, possibly due to sitting in a display case exposed to sunlight.)
