Save what extra money? A Zaan is literally 450 new. See them periodically on here or elsewhere for that price or less. They're not easy to grab, but no need to spend the extra on flippers if you're patient.

They do, but they sell out fairly quickly. The lead times are the way they are because they are not a huge operation for being one of the most reputable knife companies in the world, and they share the production between orders and retailer distribution.
 
On another note, I recently bought a mini bugout and a bunch of parts just to mod it for a little project, and it turned out to be a very solid build, and a current favorite. Could do the same with a full size given the spectrum of aftermarket parts.

Please show me a new Umnumzaan for 450 that’s available now. If you want one now it’s secondary market and 500 min. Heck I sold my last 2 used ones for 500.
And when you do find one at retail in several months you will pay tax and possible shipping.

Didn't say it was available now. You said save the extra money as he waits, which if he waits, he wouldn't have to. Tax would depend on where they live and what retailer. Several of CRK's authorized dealers don't charge tax or shipping. So it may not be super easy, but you can absolutely obtain one for 450 new. As far as used, that's great you made money on yours, I did not because I chose not to sell for over retail when I sold my last one, and there are other forums that people sell under retail regularly.
 
At $450 I'd be looking for one of the Chris Reeve folders. I know they are somewhat higher now, but I'd be looking. With $450 to start off with, maybe I'd be thinking of selling off something to get the CRK.

Who said I made money? I sold them both for what I paid for them and you can stuff your little vailed insult and phony indignation.
You seem to be rather argumentative and insistent on painting yourself onto the high ground in a conversation that has absolutely nothing to do with you or your self perceived moral superiority or other forums.

If you are considering ordering from the CRK website, I suggest you do it now as I believe they are set for a price increase soon. I believe most models will increase around $50

This is what I was told by CRK dealers
 
$450 for a folder . . . hmmm . . .

I would take the $450 and fold it in my next property tax statement and keep it there until I had the rest.
