If you had $450 (make that $600), what would you get?

Umm....You just quoted the lead times to poke at another member and it turns out you've been looking for that knife for just as long? Lol!

Just suck it up and put in an order my man!
You may order now
When you will receive, I'll take it from your hands
For $450 of course :^D

From the very first moment it posted...
What prices are you seeing; and where are you seeing them?

BladeHQ also lists them at $450.00
(Out of stock...)

You can pre-order one ONLY !!!
That's very far from BUY !

I bought yesterday two large Sebenzas instead
Will got them in two days, not two years !

But OP will read your advice and happily pre-order and sit dreaming

At $450 I'd be looking for one of the Chris Reeve folders. I know they are somewhat higher now, but I'd be looking. With $450 to start off with, maybe I'd be thinking of selling off something to get the CRK.
I took your advice and sold a couple knives this morning. They sold fast , thankfully. I have doubles and even triples of some knives in my collection so I sold two and now my knife budget is $600.

I wonder if I should change the name of the thread title (?)

$600 is custom and favorite steel territory. That’s what my Kuros in Cruwear ran.

Maybe some Hersheys will fit your hand and pocket now
Or good full sized Sebenza :^)

I sent you link to nice CRK, good priced here yesterday , but bare knife only

If t were me I'd probably be buying smaller knives, but the larger ones I'd consider:

Les George VECP
Olamic Swish
Demko AD-20
Hinderer XM-18 or Firetac
Shirogorov F3 (pretty sure I've seen some used ones under 600)
Spartan SHF
Medford Praetorian Slim or Slim Midi
CRK Umnumzaan
TRM Atom
ZT Emerson 0640
Hogue Ritter
Spyderco Shaman or Native Chief

I found one for you right now at Alabama CRK Authorized Dealer

Chris Reeve Knives Folder: Sebenza 31 Large Inlay - Drop Point Natural Micarta
$550 and available

Not really a "limit" if you sell knives to raise it based on available "cash on hand." If I made my buying decisions based on COH, there would be NO limit.

Nevertheless, there's not much difference between what you can buy for $450 vs $600.

I sold the knives so that I don’t have to touch anything in the bank. The $450 is disposable income. And so is the additional $150 now. So it feels like the knife is free in a way. If I chose to go into a bank account then I could get whatever I wanted. But that’s not the point here. I wanted to get what I could with the extra cash I have rolled up on my bureau.

And I have found a difference in what I could buy new between $450 and $600 such as a Large Sebenza31 with inlays or CGG , Inkosi with inlays and a limited SHF to name a few.

For $600 you can consider knives from Jake Hoback, Mike Zieba , Brad Zinker and others but for the most part I’d still recommend CRK, Hinderer, Spartan SHF and the Spyderco titanium folders as they are proven winners. A large micarta Sebenza should be high or tops on your list for a titanium framelock non flipper

I'm not questioning how you want to spend your money. Your $, your choice.

My practice has been to set a limit and stick w/it regardless of how much money I have on hand regardless of the source but, if you are using a "rolling limit" based on available COH, why don't you sell a few more knives?

Then you could raise the limit to $1k. Definitely more choices at THAT level than at $650!

It’s hard sometimes for me to set a financial limit for myself on stuff I wanna buy because I could easily get carried away and set it too high for my own good.

Selling a couple knives to get into the $600 range is just enough since after hearing opinions from everyone in this thread , I think I wanna go with a new CRK. I’d like to keep most of my collection intact.

And just out of curiosity , what do you like in the $600-$1000 category? Customs?
