If you had $450 (make that $600), what would you get?

I sold the knives so that I don’t have to touch anything in the bank. The $450 is disposable income. And so is the additional $150 now. So it feels like the knife is free in a way. If I chose to go into a bank account then I could get whatever I wanted. But that’s not the point here. I wanted to get what I could with the extra cash I have rolled up on my bureau.

And I have found a difference in what I could buy new between $450 and $600 such as a Large Sebenza31 with inlays or CGG , Inkosi with inlays and a limited SHF to name a few.

This is exactly what I suggested: a large CRK with inlays. I don't know much about 31 But the 21 I currently have is great (BHQ exclusive with cf inlays). The inkosi with natural micarta that I got from ksf is also great.

$600 now!! Sick! I second a CRK of some sort, or go with my original idea of an AG Russell Acies, pizza and now subway!! Apparently I’m still hungry. :/

It’s hard sometimes for me to set a financial limit for myself on stuff I wanna buy because I could easily get carried away and set it too high for my own good.

Selling a couple knives to get into the $600 range is just enough since after hearing opinions from everyone in this thread , I think I wanna go with a new CRK. I’d like to keep most of my collection intact.

And just out of curiosity , what do you like in the $600-$1000 category? Customs?

There are only a few knives that I'd want to buy at the $650-$1k level.

There's nothing particularly special about them. They've just run up in price based on rarity and demand but they would fill niches in my collection.

They include a Spyderco Szabofly and Slysz Bowie, a Kershaw Volt 3600CB, and a ZT 0454 CB, among a few others.

Nothing new or custom.

I have the $ to buy them whenever I see them but I just refuse to pay what ppl are asking for them these days.

$550 (but preferably $500) is my limit and I'm sticking w/it as long as I can.

Well , my limit is now $1500. Just kidding. It shall stay at $600. And if I can’t find a new Large Sebenza or Inkosi (or maybe SHF) then I’ll either wait for the right one to show up or go with option B and get a few less expensive knives that I’m interested in. Great suggestions , guys 👍

One thing I think about is whether the knife will be a safe queen or a user. I just bought a CRK large Sebenza 31 with night sky graphic for over $600. I love the knife. But I will keep it as a safe queen and pass it on to grandsons. I have 2 other sebenza’s a 21 and 31, but again, at $500 a crack I am loathe to use them as EDC’s. I tend to use my less expensive knives as EDC’s where my most recent purchase was a spyderco native 5 salt for just over $100. It is a great knife, built to take abuse, and will not rust. If you are wondering, I also worry about losing knives. If I lost a $500 plus knife as an edc I would be quite depressed. If I lose a $100 edc I will be unhappy, but will replace it. Does anyone else feel this way. My main take is that spending this much $ (say $500) while appealing to my artistic and high quality drives, makes it difficult to use as an everyday blade.

now that its 600 bucks...same as I said before, and pocket the rest.

It’s time for a new knife (or knives). I’ve given myself a $450 (now $600) cap. Just wanted to hear what you guys would get. Maybe it would give me some ideas. Folders only. I hate flippers. And I prefer full size knives (no smalls or minis). So let’s hear it.
Simple really. I'd buy myself a nice SAK save about $575 or so.

So I may have changed my answer now that I’ve eaten.

$600 + save up a little more and try a Microtech Anax. You will not be disappointed. Bit of a thicker blade…but slick. :)

1) Add another vote for any large Sebenza variant that catches your eye on the forum, lots of great stuff under $600 (I got my dream bog oak double silver stud version for $475 on here).

2) Alternatively the xm-18 fullered spear non-flippers have popped up here from time to time in that range recently, love that knife to death.

3) If you're patient maybe you can nab a Shiro Neon or HatiOn in that range, though those are not quite the work knives the other two would be IMO, harder to take apart and clean.

Love that knife so much, probably the most perfectly ground blade I own. Are these still being made? Mine's about ten years old I think.

Super nice blades. I’m pretty sure (99.9%) they are disco’d. But they pop up on the exchange for around $875 here and there.
Photo for enticement purposes. Haha.

Hinderer Ecklipse Harpoon Spanto + Spyderco Gayle Bradley 2

Should come in just shy of $650, even with the 2022 15% price hike on the GB2
