If you had to go to war, what is the one fixed blade and 1 folder you would take??

Fixed. Busse team gemini, or argone assault, otherwise a mad dog.
Folder. Direware S-90, or Hinderer xm24.

Really though i would bring a solid gold victorinox swisschamp that i would trade for a seat behind the 105mm on an ac130 gunship.

I been to war (note the CIB in my sig line). I carried a MT D/A Socom clip point. No fixed blade. They just get in the way.

i'd go for these first...

Fixed,my Buck 124 Frontiersman.Folder, either my LM Charge TI,or my Vic Swisstool Spirit X.Of course I would have my Charlie Mike Punch Bowie around my neck,I never leave home without it.

Most soldiers are not issued a sidearm, therefore, a combat knife makes a lot of sense.

...it's big enough to do whatever you need, but small enough to stay out of the way and actually be carried (a lot of guys buy these big "indestructible" knives and don't carry them, cuz they are too heavy) and If i had to pick just one folder it would most likely be a combo edge spidey endura... i hate serrations, but they come in handy when the knife gets dull.
That's pretty much what I was thinking.

I'd take an ESEE 4 with serrations, I hate serrations normally but in a war zone I figure you may not always be able to keep your plain edge blade as sharp as you'd like. Also the ESEE 4 is compact and light enough that it would actually get carried but it's still strong enough that I wouldn't worry about pushing it a little, you never know what you might have to do in those situations and if something needs doing then you gotta do it, can't say "Oh sorry sir, I'd like to help you out there but that's knife abuse..." ;) And of course, although it's rare, soldiers have had to resort to their knife in combat even in recent times and the ESEE 4 would probably work for that too. It wouldn't be ideal but it sure beats your fists.

For a folder I'd probably bring a multi-tool of some sort, maybe a Swisstool. I get by with a SAK day to day but I could see pliers coming in handy.

These two are my most used fixed blade and folder.

Drpendant on my final review, a Kukri, and my 0560. Of course, I'd rather have 2 of each, in which it would be the kuk, bk16, 0560, and buck vantage force pro

Folder : Eickhorn Pohl One

Fixed : CRKT Hissatsu or Pohl Force Hornet XL depending on my load out for the day

Of my own: Bravo-1 and Combative Edge SR-11. I would probably lose the SR trying to do fancy stuff and wonder if I should have brought my Spyderco Native instead.

I'd go with my esee 3 with tec lok. And for my folder emerson cqc-7bw. Both tough as nails neither to bulky or heavy. "S.A.W.C." (-Nutn)
