I been to war (note the CIB in my sig line). I carried a MT D/A Socom clip point. No fixed blade. They just get in the way.

you picked the wrong fixed blade... that's why i picked the falkniven S1. big enough to do what you need, but small enough to not be in the way.

I'm more than making up for it now. I'm getting a ZT bayonet and I plan on carrying it.

My Emerson CQC8 and either my Swamp Rat Rodent 6 or Busse Team Gemini Light Brigade.

Of knives I actually own, my ESEE Izula, and my ZT 0301. The ZT 301 would stay out of the way as a backup in case I lost the ESEE, but still needed some toughness, the Izula would be my go to knife for 99% of tasks.

When I last went to the sandbox I had a CRKT M-16T and a Kershaw Chive, and picked up a BM Griptilian partway through in a trade with a buddy, but I would definately like a small fixed just to have something I could really beat up with the nasty stuff.

Busse Tank Buster - not ridiculously large, but plenty strong.
Some kind of multi-tool with stout pliars (otherwise I'd go with a Swiss Champ), Leatherman Surge? Super Tool 300? Dunno, don't have one... would have to research it a bit.

My Marine Corps issued bayonet, because I had to, it was free and replaceable so I didn't have to worry it, it's long enough to stab people, strong enough to pry, and because you can use it as a spear.

My folder would be the spyderco Military, because it is LIGHTWEIGHT and still wickedly long for stabbing if necessary. It's easy to say "I'll carry this 4 pound fixed machete" but I had enough junk to carry. Weight becomes top priority.

as someone in a military, id seriously ask what you are doing in the war? they say it takes 90% of the army to make the 10% of fighters able to do there job. that ebing said. are you recce? if so a large knife and a leatherman/multitool. are you armored? then a leatherman and no fixed blade. are you in the navy? a lot of good a fixed blade will do you on a ship that you cant get by with a multi tool. you goin out, you want to be light and efficient. i absolutely love knives but id sacrafice a large fixed blade for an extra mag

I am tempted to say Spyderco Military for the folder, but really I would take a Cold Steel XL Voyager Tanto, I know it is on the less $ side but it will take a heel of a beating.

As for the fixed blade. Extrema Ratio Suppressor or on a budget the Cold Steel OSS with a blackend blade.

Rough Rider Mini Trapper and a BG Survival Knife like on his show.!* What more could you really ask for when you have the weapons men cry for there whole life but really can't afford.!* {a little humor never hurt anybody.*}

Do own
Folder: M4 griptilian
Fixed: Don't own any fixed yet
Don't own
Folder: ZT 301
Fixed: Spyderco Warrior

I think i feel as you do. I chose my Vic. because I see it as a tool. No way I'd even try to fight with a knife. That's what the rifles and shotguns are for.

Lets say your enemy is advancing you and I'm talking close like feet away and your rifle jams, you gunna poke him with your SAK?
